Just a heads up, X99 is not support unless you use some beta testing method. It's not recommended.

Not sure if it even would run OS X.

Also I've never seen someone dual booting those 2 OS'es

I think mac os does not support being installed on a seperate partition. Only on a full HDD

You can install OS X in the same drive as another OS, running the three below on my 240GB SSD :)

Heyyo,

Btw, what's the goal of your PC? Photo/Video editing? Gaming?

For Photo/Video Editing? It's a good build but yeah I would recommend swap down to an i7-4790k with a Z97 motherboard to prevent compatibility issues. You'd also save a few bucks.

For gaming? Definitely swap down to an i5-4790k and get a GTX 980. You pretty much should stick with NVIDIA GPUs as AMD support isn't as good.. I can't even seem to find any proper results if an AMD R9 390X or AMD R9 Fury would even work under OSX... The AMD R9 290X can work under OSX but it seems more like a gamble than a guarantee...

Where-as NVIDIA works flawlessly.

I'd also buy a Gigabyte motherboard for OSX tbh. They tend to work the best. Next? Make sure your SATA controller is set to AHCI. For some reason OSX doesn't tend to like hardware RAID mode.

Here's what I'd recommend to build if you plan on gaming:

PCPartPicker part list / Price breakdown by merchant

CPU: Intel Core i5-4690K 3.5GHz Quad-Core Processor ($219.99 @ SuperBiiz)

CPU Cooler: Noctua NH-U14S 55.0 CFM CPU Cooler ($67.99 @ Mwave)

Motherboard: Gigabyte GA-Z97MX-Gaming 5 Micro ATX LGA1150 Motherboard ($109.99 @ Micro Center)

Memory: A-Data XPG V1.0 8GB (2 x 4GB) DDR3-1600 Memory ($42.99 @ Newegg)

Storage: Samsung 850 EVO-Series 250GB 2.5" Solid State Drive ($97.95 @ OutletPC)

Storage: Western Digital BLACK SERIES 2TB 3.5" 7200RPM Internal Hard Drive ($119.99 @ Micro Center)

Video Card: Asus GeForce GTX 980 4GB STRIX Video Card ($493.99 @ NCIX US)

Case: Phanteks Enthoo Pro ATX Full Tower Case ($99.99 @ Amazon)

Power Supply: SeaSonic 620W 80+ Bronze Certified Fully-Modular ATX Power Supply ($78.99 @ SuperBiiz)

Total: $1331.87

Prices include shipping, taxes, and discounts when available

Favor the GPU over the rest of the build. A good gaming rig should have almost half your budget or so spent on the GPU.

Here's what I'd recommend if you don't plan on gaming and want a more photo/video editing efficient machine:

i7 CPU for tons of compute power, downgrade the GPU to the GTX 960 and bump up the SSD to 500GB. Eh, it's debateable if more than 16GB of 2133MHz RAM would really benefit you so much on video editing unless you are doing 4K video editing.. if doing 4K video editing? Then yeah 32GB of RAM could be handy... but up to you mang. You could save some cash by shrinking this video editing build back down to 16GB.

Will be doing intensive video editing.
