Bitlocker

Go to solution Solved by Godlygamer23,

Thanks godly gamer .. Yeah i am an idiot its always a problem for me i mix IOS and mac os lol.. and what about windows OS?? will it still need a password to unlock it?

On any OS that supports BItlocker, yes it will request a password. On any other system, the drive will be completely unusable and you would not be able to decrypt it.

Hi Lads and Ladies,

I just needed to know some thing very simple, i will probably laugh at my self for not being able to use google properly, rather being lazy.

Anyways i used Bitlocker to lockout HDD on my PC now will this HDD be password protected on any other computer?? be it any OS like IOS or windows or linux? and so on...

like i said it is some thing maybe very simple but then hey i like to be able to have discussions around here haha..

Regards

Akram

iOS is the mobile operating system for Apple's mobile devices. Mac OS X is the operating system that Macs use. I do believe the drives would not work on Mac OS, Linux, etc without decryption. It would be counter-intuitive if it did.

Akram1589,

It will only be able to be decrypted by OS's that support or have bitlocker installed. It depends if it will be password accessible based on what OS you performed the encryption on and what drive you encrypted. For example, a Windows 7 boot drive uses a TPM or sub key to unlock and therefore can not be unlocked with a password. However all can be unlocked with the provided recovery key on Windows OS's with bitlocker.

Hope this helps.
