Rendering 392 gb video!

Hello!

 

i have a fue questions

 

when i render a 392 gb file is it normal for my cpu to be used at 80%?

 

The temprature is 70-75 C is that normal?( i have a cooler which i get with a cpu box)

 

i am editing and rendering with sony vegas 11

 

i am recording with fraps.

 

i recorded a 2 h 30 min zombie gameplay on Bo2.

Everything looks normal to me. You may want to look into better codecs to make that file smaller, but everything else looks good.

What GPU are you using? Are you using it to accelerate the render time?

well i like fraps becuz eits makes good quality. i ahve tried other problems liek bandicam but their makes good quality. only bad thing i ahte about fraps that its eats much storage, but thats not the problem. its the rendering time. sony vegas says that its 7 hours left-.- i need stronger CPU:D

well its going up to 70-75 c when i am playing. if i render then i think i will burn my GPU:D

well i like fraps becuz eits makes good quality. i ahve tried other problems liek bandicam but their makes good quality. only bad thing i ahte about fraps that its eats much storage, but thats not the problem. its the rendering time. sony vegas says that its 7 hours left-.- i need stronger CPU:D

A codec is a way to compress/decompress a video file. If you compress the file, it makes it smaller at the cost of quality. Using a lossless codec preserves the quality. I've heard of the Lagarith Lossless Codec for Dxtory, but I don't know a good codec to use with Fraps.

GPUs actually have pretty high temp limits. It might be worth using it to accelerate the render.

Just look for a lossless codec. compressing it won't hurt resolution or anything. If you have the HDD space then it isn't really important anyway.

well i ahve 3 tb space so its not a problem but i hate to wait specially when uploading on youtube and rendering!

When you pick the video settings and the output settings, don't use a default. For instance I use 'internet 1080p' as a base then change aspects of it to suit my needs

. When you edit the profile one of the options is to use CUDA if available. Check that box and your Gpu will assist with the rendering

if you are rendering in vegas its really normal for the cpu to reach high loads due to it using all cores I believe you can change this but it would take more time to render the video.

for someone who has 730 posts you'd think you'd know, Do you even feel like you can cut some of it out? or a lot of it, I used to play zombies in bo1 and I remember there were some boring moments.  But anyway this sounds somewhat normal, 2600's do get kinda hot especially at a high load with a stock cooler. I really think you should at least edit it a little before you render 400gb of raw gameplay.

To answer your question it is normal to have 80% load while editing and those temperatures are fine, I wouldn't be surprised if your CPU maxes out while rendering.

In terms of a 392GB file it sounds like its raw footage. Unless you are doing some professional work for a movie or something then you will probably gain next to nothing from having uncompressed files. I used to work with incompressed before I used h264 encoding. It makes working with the video a lot easier. Because you have raw footage I recommend encoding it using a codec, most commonly used is h264 which is what YouTube uses. Anyway those are my opinions.

I've done youtube vids too and to be honest if you're going to go uncompressed, don't. The best thing to do is H.264 encoding as it keeps the quality loss to a VERY small amount and it will make it easier to upload to youtube (it will process faster as it's already in the format that youtube likes) and the file sizes are compressed greatly. You may want to look into CUDA rendering though :p it will be faster than using your cpu.

My I7-2600k hits 100% load and around 70*C when renderings.  It's a safe temp as long as it's not 24/7, I mean anything under 80*C is fine for general load just not for 24/7.
