There may be much more advertising in apps than it seems. Thousands of mobile applications are secretly running ads that can't be seen by users, defrauding marketers and slowing down smartphones.

Over the course of the 10-day study, one percent of all devices observed in the U.S. ran at least one app committing this kind of fraud; in Europe and Asia, two to three percent of devices encountered fake ads. Forensiq identified over 5,000 apps that display unseen ads on both Apple and Android devices. Advertisers are paying about $850 million for these ads each year, according to the report, and the apps with the highest rate of ad fraud can burn through 2 gigabytes of data per day on a single device.

The apps, says Forensiq, were hitting these numbers by showing as many as five ads in the background for every ad visible to users. Some apps continued to scroll through ads even after the app had been closed.

There is high relevancy for this.. this will bring changes to google ad services terms and condition.. maybe new screening mechanism. Lots of RnD expenses... Companies saying they have been paying more.. bringing in some legal issues.. maybe banning of your fav apps...Others trying this... effecting app developers with good practices..

these sorts of opinions should be in the OP, generally a news post goes, facts, summary from OP in this case you, opinions. You can either do all three once in large chunks or repeat the cycle over and  over, i did this for a few thousand threads last year and people really liked it.

I'm not usually that guy, but I had a hard time figuring out what exactly he was saying at first.

Personally, I've no problem with the majority of marketing douche-bags getting defrauded.

Most of them are complete scum. The only exception I've found for people advertising stuff is LMG and Tech Syndicate.

Ketchup is better than mustard.

GUI is better than Command Line Interface.

Dubs are better than subs
