Hey guys I was looking into building a new pc, and I was wondering if this is a good way to go, or are there better ways to go? I have about a $3000 U.S. dollar budget, but I would like to stay closer to $2000.  http://secure.newegg.com/Shopping/ShoppingCart.aspx?Submit=view .. <-- that is the link to the shopping cart.

You can't link a shopping cart. Can you put the items together on http://www.pcpartpicker.com and also let us know what you intend to use it for (gaming, video editing, writing the world's greatest story etc). And also as I can't see the components yet so I'll say this anyway, let us know if peripherals and an OS are needed.

Also, I usually use it to do gaming, watch youtube/listen to pandora, and skype. I tend to do the 3 while I'm on.

drop down to a i7-4790k and get ddr3 1866mhz ram. I suggest Kingston ram. For the PSU I'd suggest a EVGA GS or G2 series. I think that's it. Oh after all this you could get a GTX 980Ti for a mobo that supports z97 a MSI gaming 5 will work. A BeQuiet! Pure rock CPU cooler will, also,be a bit better.

Use PCPartPicker also it'll help

Yeah that's perfect. You'd need a z97 motherboard though and I suggest the MSI Gaming 5. The RAM you, picked out looks a bit tall and to fit the Cooler Master 212 Evo,you may want some low profile ram. Something like the Kingston HyperX ram would be good or some low profile corsair ram if you prefer them.

okay so i made a partpicker account. Does this all work, and is that a good cooler, or would you recommend others?

Use the permalink not the URL :) It should be on the left hand side closer to the top of the page

http://pcpartpicker.com/p/pBgF6h this is the new one, just added an optical drive...

Perfect. You were spending more then needed on the CPU. Even now the 4790k is overkill but it will make it last a lot longer. The 980Ti will easily run games for the next few years at 1080p Max settings. Will play 1440p also at a nice frame rate for awhile. I hope you enjoy the build :) the h100i will also, allow for a nice overclock.
