This is the first time I'm building a PC and I want it to last until I go to college.

Use: gaming - CS:GO, LoL, GTA V, Minecraft, etc.

1. Don't get a soundcard. Your motherboard audio should be fine. If you really need to upgrade your audio solution get an external amp and DAC.

2. There are better fans to get than Corsair (see Noctua, Gentle Typhoon, BeQuiet, etc).

3. Intel SSDs have great reliability, but you could get more performance and/or size for the price.

4. You can get a better mouse for that price (see Logitech MX Master, Logitech G502, Corsair stuff, Mionix Naos or Avior series).

5. What about a mic?

Edit: I have an NZXT cable kit, they are nice, but the sticky pads aren't very sticky, so get tape or something. Also, you might want two.

System Specs - CPU: i7 4770K - RAM: 8GB(2x4GB) Vengeance Pro - Motherboard: Maximus VI Gene - Case: Modded PowerMac G5 - CPU Cooler: H100i - PSU: AX860i - SSD: Samsung 840 Series 120GB and Kingston V300 120GB - HDD: Seagate Barracuda 1TB - Graphics Card: 2x GTX 780 - Case Fans: SP120s and Spectre 140s - Headphones: HD700, Alpha Dog, SE215

I'll probably remove the sound card, change the ssd to M.2, I like the mouse, and I have a mic on my headset; don't know if I should buy a separate mic though.

I just thought about a mic because I didn't see a headset or anything on there. Good luck with the build, man!

That cpu should guarantee fast render spends, anything less is not worth your money.

That cpu cooler should guarantee cool temperatures for your cpu, anything less is not worth your money.

That motherboard should guarantee high performance, anything less is not worth your money.

That amount of ram is the bare minimum you should get, anything less is not worth your money.

Those four ssds are what you should get and run in raid 10 for the best performance, anything less is not worth your money.

Those two hdds guarantee very high storage capacity in raid 0, anything less is not worth your money.

Those three GTX Titan X's should guarantee at least 100fps in minecraft, anything less is not worth your money.

That fifty pound case should guarantee your components are safe and protected and stylish, anything less is not worth your money.

That power supply should guarantee proper energy for your components, anything less is not worth your money.

That OS is meh, anything less is not worth your money.

Hope this helps

And it leaves a thousand dollar room for a more fair priced monitor and other peripherals.

Although for just gaming you should only need like a quarter of this much at most

Like I said, the $1000 left over can easily cover that.

Also a $120 mouse and $170 keyboard is overkill. And a $1000 monitor is also overkill

you better be gaming for hours on end with a pc like that. i'm talking girlfriend is seriously thinking about dumping you because of your gaming addiction type gaming

if i had 5k, i'd put it in the stock market

You can't assume any of that lol.. so what if people spend their money on a nice, strong PC? It could be their passion, therefore they won't always be addicted to games at the level you expressed. Also, you know I have a girlfriend because...?

Again, one cannot assume such things without any proof.

Replacing the tubing of the Kraken X61 may not be possible. The Swiftech H240-X is designed for expansion. Replacing the tubing is straight forward.

The MSI Z97A SLI Krait is a better fit. While not currently available on pcpartpicker, it is available from at least one merchant, newegg.com.

I would suggest different memory. Kingston Fury comes in either black modules with white writing, or white modules with black writing. Memory speeds and sub-timings are important, but the difference is very small.

An Intel 750 4-lane ssd offers significantly better performance than SATA III connected drives. Up to five times faster.

I presume the plan was to put the two hdd in RAID 0. If so, WD Red drives are more suitable.

EVGA 06G-P4-4995-KR GTX 980 Ti include a backplate and IMO fit the color scheme better. There should be no issues with cooling as there is an extra slot between two of the gpu slots.

EVGA 220-P2-1000-XR is a marginally better psu. It is aslo available with white cables. If you stick with the H1000i, Corsair sells a white cable set for it. The Silverstone cables in the OP are extensions which would mean a fair bit of cabling to hide.

I have removed the sound card. I have also removed the added fans. The case comes with four white bladed black cased fans. The H240-X includes two white bladed black cased fans. Six intake/exhaust fans are more than enough to provide good airflow.

I added the custom parts for the psu cords, when it comes to the backplates and sli bridge those would be around the same price as the ones you chose, but i didn't list them, same for other custom parts you added, i didn't list them but they would be the same amount.

I kept the mouse, keyboard, speakers you chose, and the case fans. But when it comes to the monitor instead of spending over $1000 for a 1440p monitor, for like half that i put a 4k monitor

the mobo below has a great sound card built in plus wifi:

https://www.asus.com/ca-en/Motherboards/Z97PROWiFi_ac/specifications/

  • g1 gaming gpu comes with backplates
  • corsair case looks a lot nicer
  • got you cheaper ram that will perform just as well
  • got you the best storage
  • your monitor isn't even 4k...
  • you should really get noctua fans instead. they perform so much better. i've had both

@Inception9269, on quad channel motherboards buying two separate dual channel (2 stick) memory kits has a small chance of quad channel not working. There may also be a problem running the sticks at their advertised speed and timings as XMP profiles are based on kit density.
