Well i hope this isn't a pointless thread but eh here it goes.

My PSU needs a little bit of a clean as it's a little dusty inside, can i just use a compressed air can? would be handy since im going to clean up my PC with a can anyhow.

I used a compressed air tank.

those air cans tend to blow air and condensate if you do wrong.

Don't use compressed air, I would think that can tear off capacitors. Just use a rag to get the surface stuff out and run the fan as fast as possible for a bit?

My account is almost entirely dormant. Hope you all are having a grand time. Many years of fun were had here.

Use compressed air to blast the dust out. Just hold the fan in place so that it doesn't spin.

I LOL'ed. There is no way caps will be blown off. They are soldered and glued in place.

The amount of power stored in the capacitors is enough to shock or even kill you, even when unplugged. Be careful when talking the housing off.

Well i didnt really want to take the housing off of the unit anyhow :') since i didnt want to void my warranty and it does look more difficult to do on the G2's. and i can be fairly clumsy.

can i just then use compressed air from a distance perhaps if it's even too powerful?

Just hold the fans.

I've clearly done that (cleaning w/ compressed air)for as long as I've had a PC. It will take some force to rip those caps off even if you do it by hand.

Just make sure to hold the fan in place with a stick or something so that it doesn't spin. When I clean my PSU I blast the vents at point blank.

Not all PSUs are held up to the same quality as others, and even ones that are known to be built solidly can have a manufacturing mishaps.

From what I remember some non-techie had some crazy air blaster thing that was set to high pressure and blew the caps off. I'm pretty certain it was on a motherboard, not a PSU, where the chance of blowing them off is much more likely, but it still holds legitimacy. Just don't be a dingus and you'll be good.

It was a regular air compressor set to around 6.5 bar(94psi).

If you get up close like 2 inches away and you will have to as it's a PSU you are cleaning you will need to direct the air at the holes in the grill, the air pressure coming from a compressor is enough to rip the caps off, make sure to have a regulator and set it to about 15psi.
