Upgrade Advice & thoughts about x99

So I need some advice and thoughts about an X99 upgrade from my AMD system.

Im thinking of getting a MSI X99S SLI Plus MB with a 5820K and 16GB/32GB of quality DDR4 RAM @2800MHz (only cost about 7£/10€ more per 16GB) and ofc a new PSU (my two other PSUs I had bought for changing out my current one, 1 seasonic and 1 evga has already been put to other use.)

My biggest Question is will my 670sli setup need an Upgrade? I'm after something that can help me with work related VMs and Workloads @ home and Gaming =), Im asking cause I personally dont need more *POWA* but have been reading alot about 2GB VRAM aint enough anymore for gaming when playing AAA titles. I'm currently just playing some Indie Games that aint demanding at all but I have quite a nice Steam-library with GTA V and other fun titles (havnt gotten the time to play for a couple of months = newborn and work xD). Work alot from Home and need some Fun in between the workloads.

Two smaller Q's are:

PSU: how many Watts should I atleast get to be able to have a *stable* and *safe* overclocking environment and does a GOLD rated PSU meet the requirements?

SSD: I have a couple (4) of v300 120GB drives from Kingston that aint those frakked ones, but when Upgrading I was thinking of also getting 1/2 500GB Samsung EVO 850s as storage/Game Drives and Run my old ones as a RAID 0 or 1 OS drive would this be a valid way to go or should I just Go with the EVOs (I have a 16TB NAS for mass storage & backups)

So What ya thoughts and advice for me? Am I just dumb, or is it a vaild and kinda thought-out Upgradeplan?

Good Lord... You play Indie games, and want the X99 platform? Please, save yourself a couple hundred bucks by going Z97+i5+DDR3, there is literally zero difference in gaming.... the X99 is more workstation oriented

This.

Also the 670's are getting to be pretty dated. I'd upgrade to a single high end card. As for the PSU it kinda depends on what GPU you get

I would wait to the new AMD cpu's come out.

They seem like they will be good and it is AMD so probably cheap.

haha well Ofc Im not intending to be playing just indie games on the new build, the build is going to be the new home WorkPC as well.

I run alot of VMs and workloads for clients @work and want to be able to do the same at home =D

Ah, then the X99 is a viable option :) because in your OP you stated just gaming, so I based it off that

So if I was going to just be Gaming then a z97 build with 1 HE GPU, and for the PSU Q say I'm keeping my SLi setup for now but might upgrade later on at say Christmas times (980/980Ti/FuryX)

Something in the range of 600 to 700 watts should be able to do it
