Comments on already built PC

Go to solution Solved by Guest,

That's not the best build for the budget

But you already bought it

Here's why it's not good:

-You don't need a Z97, it's used for overclocking K CPUs and the Pentium is a locked/non-K CPU

-The 960 isn't really great for the price, but you already bought it

-Corsair isn't that great with PSU pricing

Here are the possible upgrades:

-SSD for faster boot up in games and OS

-Better GPU in the future or replace (if possible)

-An I5-4690k or wait for skylake I5s

-Change motherboard to H81/B85/H97 to save money.

- Get black ram for color match/2 dimms

-Change 960 to 280x

-Change power supply to something at least half decent

-The LG CD writer is better

-Get 212 EVO for OC

-Maybe look into a different case. There are better options

EDIT - Whoops, I didn't know you already built it. In that case it's fine

Hello,

Recentlty I have built my own PC, but I want to know if there are things I need to look out for or things I need to replace.

This is the link to PC Part Picker: http://pcpartpicker.com/p/vkqd7P

Corsair are not known for making great PSU's but thankfully it is not a CX series.

I would get a ssd for that computer, (I LOVE SSD's)

I wouldn't have got a Pentium, but I know why you did it (to upgrade latter on right?)

Hello,

I would look to upgrade from that pentium as soon as possible, there was no point getting such an expensive board really, but too late now :P

Save up for an i5 4460 or 4690k or something for best all around performance

Also maybe save up for an SSD

He has already bought it... read the title  hahaha

I would change the GTX 960 for a R9 380, and later get an i3 or i5.

pretty balanced build, would have gone with some savings here and there since it would not bottleneck but it's fine.

should have gotten a SSD though. best bang for the buck. nothing makes more of a difference in everyday use.

it will do most the stuff you would require it to do - just dont expect any performance miracles. ;)

the Pentium can give you microstuttering btw since the amount of threads might be insufficient for the OS and game to work at the same time and even 4GHz wont get the pipeline cleared fast enough for that

That isn't just any pentium, that is the G3258 which is unlocked. Which is why OP would have went with a Z97 board, even with stock cooling they are known to get up 4Ghz.

Other than that you are spot on.

Guys what I forgot to mention that I live in Europe and I bought the stuff here for a different price

Might want to be a little more specific than "Europe" since prices vary from country to country.

My build started off with a Z97-p, g3258 and 260x. The g3258 is a waste of time for gaming if you plan on running the newest most demanding games! I quickly swapped it out for a 4690k and i will soon have a 970.

I wouldn't do that, it's not worth the $$ for only 2-10 FPS more.  A better upgrade would be the 390 or 970 depending on price in the OP's region.

EDIT: that is of course if the OP could be bothered upgrading straight after buying or if those cards are even going to be on sale when the time comes for the next upgrade.
