i just wanted to know how i would get my hdd to how it would be if i just bought it because i want to use it in a new build and it had an oem copy of windows on it i want to clear it so i can put it in the new rig and install linux if the way i worded this is confusing please bare with me it is my first time building a new computer

during installation of linux you will be offered to format the drive

choose to format the drive

Place it in the new system and basically you can wipe it during the install process for the new OS and remove all the old data on it.

Hi there.

 

You can simply reformat the drive in Disk Management, or if you want install Linux directly on it without formatting it,. That way all the current data stored on the HDD will be wiped.
