Okay so I'm getting a new case this week and I want to paint the case and I've got two questions. First are all black cases able to be painted? I've heard its VERY hard to paint over black and get the paint to cover the black underneath. I want to do an all black build with some red pieces here and there and buying an all white case then spraying it black wouldn't be as practical as buying a black case and adding the red. Second can I use regular spray paint to paint it? I don't want to ever change the color so I don't need the plasti peel off paint.

Yes any case can be spray painted basically, just follow proper procedure for painting and it should be ok for the most part. I have a guide on this under the painting section it should cover all the general techniques for spray painting:

Depending on your color and finish you want regualr spray can can work but if you want more color options or vibrant/bring whites or deep blacks, automotive paint will have a much better selection:

I'm interested as well since I'm looking to paint the SSD and pci brackets on the h440 red also going to do parts of the gpu and maby the top of a dark rock pro but it's already damn sexy

What's your final color scyem gonna be? You gonna do the black on red or you going for something else? I keep debating weather I want the typical black and red or if I wanna spice it up and at some gold here and there to the black and red. Maybe like some gold internals or a few gold fitings here and there

it shouldn't be hard to cover black if you know what you're doing and you're patient.

what you need to do ;

- find a white primer

- apply 3 light coats (carefully read the instructions, not all paint are the same so curing time varies)

- apply the color you want ...

the trick is white primer, even if you don't "cover" enough with the primer, the black underneath will make it look grey. also, don't expect this to be a simple weekend project, though depending on cure times and if you're able to do a good job, it could be.

Good luck and don't forget to post pictures!

will be keeping it red/black since its such a simple and sleek case I don't want to over do it and the main reason for doing the red highlights is because the lights don't like reflecting off the matt black finish to well but then if the simple painting goes well I'll put some decals over the psu cover

Yeah I kinda think I'm gonna do the same. I would like to spray my GPU parts gold as its a 980ti and I kinda want the focus of your eye when you look at the case to be on the GPU. Spent over 700$ on the damn thing so gotta get my money's worth outta it;)

For the H440 to re-color the accents like the mesh aren't too difficult they should have tabs that can be bent back to let you remove the mesh completely and prep them for spraying.

I spray painted my black side panels red using regular Rustoleum Gloss spray paint. A single Coat was ample and I haven't had any problems with it.
