Hey,

This may be awkward to ask for or may make me seem as lazy or declare me a noob, but can someone come up with a build for me please? I wanted to buy everything off of amazon germany, cause I live here.

So yea my birthday is coming and I asked for a gaming pc and I guess the best option is to build one. Im a total noob at building pc's, cause this is my first own build in my life. I want to have a 980 preferably in my build, because the 970 has a vram issue.

I think this is difficult to do but having a 980 in a 1500 euro budget is possible or?

I dont need peripherals cause I got them already, ram I dont need either cause they were on sale quite cheap.

Would be nice if the pc can have a black/red theme with LEDs

I started selecting some components already on pcpartpicker such as the cpu, cooling method, the operating system, and storage. I will use the SSD from my mac though because I wont be using it a lot after I get my pc  :P .

Quick question: Is there a big difference in 1080p gaming and 1440p, are you able to see the difference?

Would be awesome if someone helped me!

Thanks

Yes obviously you can see the difference between 1080p and 1440p gaming. If you are looking for something in between the 980 and the 970 that can do 1440p gaming go for the r9 390x.

Hey,

because the 970 has a vram issue.

If you cannot tell a big difference between a 60HZ monitor and a 120HZ monitor then no, unless you have a sharp eyes that can identify the differences between 1080P and 1440P. However, 1440P might give you a little bit sharp images over 1080P. As for 970 VRAM issue is a lie, it does actually have 4GB VRAM but NVIDIA split 3.5GB as high speed were 0.5GB as a slow speed.

That is the VRAM issue though

I would go for a 390X if you want to play 1440p

1440p all the way. you'll need a good monitor though. 1ms is great.

are you planning on overclocking the cpu and gpu?

1080p is still good if you have 144 hertz and 1ms

Yea Im planning to overclock both. I have an old monitor that I am using right now as an extension display to my current comp, its very old though. Here it is: Monitor. I wanted to buy a 1440p or 1080p monitor now, and sometime next year ill probably sell the old monitor and buy an additional 1080 or 1440p. Dont really know if 1440p is worth it though and will meet my budget.

You mean 3.5GB VRAM issue? If you do the math 3.5GB + 0.5MB = 4GB, but if you mean performance issue then yes your performance will drop once you exceed 3.5GB high speed VRAM.

It's a VRAM issue but you are right that the 3.5GB issue is false but it's still a VRAM issue that will cause stutters and performance drops when you get to the slow VRAM

Here is my configuration, hope you like it. NZXT s340 costs around 85€ or you can switch it with NZXT H440 (red and black version), and I have no idea how much is a SSD, but it doesn't matter since you have allready purchased it. I've also included 2 Corsairs AF140 with red LED lights. If you don't like led lights you can switch it with Corsair AF140 with red rings around the fan. For the AIO Cpu cooler, thouse stock fan on the radiator are ugly. Buy 2 more Corsair SP120 fans for that and you'll be fine.

Hope it helps. Just play around try different combinations and send it here, so we can debate about it.

Change PSU for this one, and it's not too bad.

Just found this on tomshardware....

i have never done SLI before but i have heard nothing but bad things from it and most games don't support sli its what i hear atleast

Any modern game that has a decent GPU requirement will run fine on an SLI rig.

A single GTX980 is only 10-13% faster than a single GTX970 but its costs 60%+ MORE. That makes the GTX970 a MUCH better buy for the performance, if you need more performance, a second GTX970 is worth it.

Why less watts? It's better to have more watt power, then less. 750W will give you a lot of room for overclocking. And try to look for gold or better psus, just because you get better output.

I'll play around and paste a new link.

GOOD GOD.

It doesn't mean it's a bad graphics card. I use my GTX 970 for 1440p Ultra settings and I get 60 fps no problem. I don't use AA because it's too much of a resource hog, and you don't need it so much as the resolution increases. Sure, using AA would mean using more VRAM, but then you get lower framerates because the GPU can't drive it, so saying, "I MUST HAVE 4GB FULL SPEED ON THE 970" is kind of a moot argument.

The GTX 970 is an excellent card, it sips power and stays cool. I can (almost) guarantee you won't be disappointed.

Here is a similar setup, just a better motherboard (you could go with MSI gaming 5) the only difference is that gaming 7 has better cooling on mobo and so you can OC it a bit more. Fractal design r5 is best case you can find. IMO
