Cooler Master Nepton 240 M - slight rattling noises?!

Hey guys,

so I recently installed a CM Nepton in my new PC. Thing is that it makes very slight but audible rattling noises. Sounds a bit like the sound fridges sometimes make - but much more quiet.

According to BIOS the pump always runs at around ~ 2600 RPM. Temperatures are all fine with my i7 4790k @ standard speed : Idle at around 27 - 30°C, singlecore boost at around 45°C (on the core that runs at 4.4 GHz) and regular full load at 55°.

It isn't bothering me very much since it's barely audible - just want to make sure  that it won't kill my PC haha. Would be thankful for any feedback as always :)

I don't think it's a leak, but be wary of the issue, because there's this thread right here :http://forums.bit-tech.net/showthread.php?t=233533
I'm still rather new to watercooling but i've read alot about them, i would suggest remove the cooler for a while to check if there's any leak,
or keep an eye out on the pump when it's working.

Thankfully there is no leak. Just seems to be a faulty pump. I'll send it back - don't want to kill my 1200€ PC because of a 100€ part... but thanks for the reply :)

I think it's a smart move, rattling noises tends to be the pump not working 100% properly and..if you can return it, go for it.

I have had the same experience with not just one Nepton but 2. The first one made the sound, and then I returned it and it was even louder. But this is not normal for these pumps, I have found out they have a serious quality control problem with units being underfilled. What you're hearing is air in the system, and the rattling is bad for the pump.

My suggestion would be to return the Nepton 240m and go with another brand of AIO, as CM will not help you in this situation. I have tried to contact them, and the only thing they respond to is RMA requests with automated emails. You will have to send off your cooler, and hope that 1. it makes it to them, and 2. they don't deny ever receiving it, and put you out of $120 and a lot of time. This has apparently happened several times to several people as well.

Here is a link to a forum post I made, and part of my experience with their lack of customer service, as well as a gentleman who will not be recieving a refund for the cooler he sent off: http://community.coolermaster.com/index.php/topic/13262-nepton-240m-pump-rattlenoiseticking/

So I would definitely return it to whatever establishment you got it from as soon as possible. Reason being, the air in the system is not good for the pump, and it will make the pump degrade faster than normal, and you probably only have a limited time to return it (probably 30 days) to the place you got it.
