I built my first system for the first time yesterday, and i've run into some problems. Upon trying to boot it for the first time the screen shown on the screenshot appeared. I turned off the computer and went to look for a keyboard. When I came back the computer would display anything on the screen. After It would turn off instantly after turning it on. I took the system apart and built it again using the intel stock cooler in order to quickly fix the cpu fan error. After rebuilding it the computer turns on and everything seems fine but nothing appears on the screen now. I have tried resetting the bios, clearing cmos with my motherboard, and disconnecting the graphics card and plugging in the monitor directly to the monitor but nothing has worked. I just ordered a mobo speaker to see if it helps but does anybody have any suggestions? Thank you!

My system specs are an intel core i7 4790k, 16gb dual channel 2133 gskill ram, samsung 500gb ssd, msi 980ti gaming, asus formula vii mobo, a g2 gold nova 850w psu from evga. The case is the nzxt h440, and i am using bitspectre led fans with an h100i gtx all in one liquid cooler from corsair.

Strip it down to the motherboard, CPU, and one stick of memory and see if it will boot. Then slowly add parts and see what makes it not boot.

Dumb question but i'm assuming this includes the psu right?

Yep!

AND CPU COOLER AS WELL.

In case that needs said.

https://pcpartpicker.com/user/Inn3rMonKey/saved/ that is the part picker. I also finished the test bench and it still isn't working. There is a screenshot attached to this.

Ok, first of all you said you put the stock cpu cooler in and it turned on fine right? This may seem like a stupid question but did you connect the HDMI cable to the mobo or the GPU? If you connected it to the mobo when you installed the GPU then it wont work. You need to put the HDMI in the mobo without the GPU installed to use the cpu dedicated gpu. This is just an idea.

I did initially but then I also later removed the gpu and connected the hdmi directly to the motherboard as see in the test bench. The test bench system seems to boot, I see lights, and the stock cooler is spinning, but no image on the screen as you can see.

If you can ask someone who knows a bit about computers to look at it quickly, sometimes it is really easy to make a super super obvious mistake when doing these things. Or try use another mobo if you can. The only thing I can think of is a faulty mobo.

BUT, just to clarify, if you plug HDMI to GPU with gpu installed, you cannot see anything either? If this is the case try a different HDMI or use it for something else like a TV and see if it works, and if that does not work I am willing to bet its the mobo.

I've tried different monitors, and different cables and nothing seems to work. I don't see where a mistake could have been made but I have asked around. Is it possible for the motherboard to be doing everything correctly except outputting video?

Well if its not outputting video, it could be the CPU or motherboard. Can you try the GPU in another system?

Would the computer even turn on if it was a problem with the cpu?

Depending on how the Cpu isn't functioning, yes. The iGPU (internal GPU) for the CPU can be faulty, but the system will still light up because voltage is still going through it.
