Hello Forum,

Since I'm using a stock cooler with my 4690K, I thought I could make it run cooler by reducing the VCore, so I reduced it to .980v and all the way down to .800v. But since then, my PC has been acting up at boot. So I removed the wire connecting the CMOS Battery to my Gigabyte Z97N and cleared CMOS. When I booted up, it boot up well, but when I entered my 4 digit password, it takes like a minute to take me to the desktop. I really don't know what to do now. Please help me. P.S. it runs perfect after the one minute to login thing.

Thanks! :)

wow what temps are you even getting at stock speeds and stock core voltage? my friend has the same cpu and cooler and doesnt go above 55 degrees.

Actually I have a Mini ITX case that's why I wanted to do this. Temps at stock are ~50^C while browsing. 70^C while rendering.

rendering with that cpu would take a while at stock speeds, let alone the underclocking. but i suppose you gotta do what ya gotta do but how about just getting a low profile cpu cooler for like $50 bucks or less.

That's not an option, I won't get one. Can we stick to solving my problem please?

That's what I did, I disconnected the battery but it still took a minute to take me to the desktop after entering the password.

1. Check event viewer.

2. Check your HDD health with HDD Tune or HDD Sentinel.

Why HDD? My OS is on an SSD, my HDD was plugged in while installing though. But they system is less than four months old, I don't pirate stuff and have a full subscription of Eset Smart Security.
