honestly this build is similar to what my build ended up that's still a work in progress is. heres what id do with the money you've got

cpu: http://www.microcenter.com/product/434177/Core_i5-4690K_35GHz_LGA_1150_Boxed_Processor 199$

gpu: http://www.microcenter.com/product/441663/GeForce_GTX_970_FTW_ACX_20_4GB_GDDR5_PCIe_Video_Card_-_04G-P4-2978-KR 364$

MB: http://www.microcenter.com/product/433406/Z97-Gaming_5_LGA_1150_ATX_Intel_Motherboard 155$

PSU: http://www.microcenter.com/product/415149/V850_V_Series_850_Watt_Modular_ATX_Power_Supply 180$

HDD: http://www.microcenter.com/product/422857/Black_2TB_7,200_RPM_SATA_60Gb-s_35_Internal_Hard_Drive_WD2003FZEX_-_Bare_Drive 120$

RAM: http://www.microcenter.com/product/354611/Vengeance_Series_8GB_DDR3-1600_(PC3-12800)_CL9_Dual_Channel_Desktop_Memory_Kit_(Two_4GB_Memory_Modules) x2 130$

CASE: http://www.microcenter.com/product/435015/Corsair_Series_780T_Full_Tower_PC_Case_-_White 180$

Grand total: 1330$ amount left 370ish

that would be my build and about the amount id pay for the parts. the left over id use either on the ssd or keyboard and mouse. then id also save some for the steam end of summer sale. dont blow all your money on a pc and then have nothing to play on it.

forgot to mention with that list you might have room to swap the gpu with a 980ti and still have a little left over or buy a second 970 for sli but again its totally up to you.

Is sli possible between a 970 and 980ti? Besides, that's not a good plan. It'd just cap the vram limit to 3.5/40 gbs. If you don't mind amd, I'd suggest the 390x.

no i mean the original card i had in that build was a 970 ftw. was giving him the option of either scrapping the 970 totally and just buying a 980ti or keeping the 970 and buying another one so hed have 2 970s in sli

Ah. 2 970's in sli are pointless.
