G3258 render

how long do u reckon it would take a pentium g3258 @ 4.0ghz to render a 15 minute video at 1080p and 1080p60fps?

I have one and it takes 11 hours with sony vegas so im wondering if my settings are off

I don't know but I don't think it will be good.

Its a dualcore, it is NOT designed to render stuff.

11 hours seems about right. small amount of cache, 2 cores, older architecture, nothing seems out of place really. It's not meant to render video whatsoever.

Skylake is not out yet, if you actually consider Broadwell to render Haswell 'old' you are stupid. Literally nothing changed in terms of performance...

If your calling haswell and old architecture you need to rethink life

You SHOULD know, as you should be setting these things up properly!!

I bet its set up to export a stupidly high bitrate

That's wrong.

What bitrate?

i5 4670k @ 4.2GHz (Coolermaster Hyper 212 Evo); ASrock Z87 EXTREME4; 8GB Kingston HyperX Beast DDR3 RAM @ 2133MHz; Asus DirectCU GTX 560; Super Flower Golden King 550 Platinum PSU;1TB Seagate Barracuda;Corsair 200r case.

with my pentium @4.4 ghz I'm not able to realtime-render 3k bitrate 1080p for streaming while running a game, but that seem somehow obvious. but even though it's not meant to be a working-cpu it should handle a 15 min 1080p video faster... maybe your bitrate is set to something utopic like 15k or so, but with standard around 5k or lower it should definitely be done in under 2 hours.

How does one change bitrate?

Which program are you rendering with? For Sony Vegas it would be just picking another output format. I just tried Sony XAVC /XAVC S (*.mxf;*.mp4): "XAVC S HD 1080 Lond-GOP 59.94p", my FX8350 @4.7 GHZ needed 1 minute for a 30 sec video, and the output file is just 60MB... probably the best solution?

Oh I just noticed that the output file is just at 30 fps, but I think that is becaus I used a 30fps recorded input file ^^

ok I just did the test:

I recorded DS2 1080p60fps @ 10k bitrate and took the mp4 format.

I rendered 2 minuts and that took my fx8xxx @ 4.7 ghz 7minutes.

so here's the math:

7 mins...

times 7.5 to equal 15 min. = 52.5min

times 4 (because i got 8 cores and higher clockspeed, but your's got better IPC so I guess thats factor 4 should be fine) = 210min = 3.5h

tbh a bit more as I expected, but it is at 10k bitrate too . still much better then 11h :D

- other formats need up to 35k bitrate but quality @ 10k with mp4 is pretty decent. -> check it out.
