I have looked around places, but I'm still not sure, and I'm not to hot on software, so I wanted people opinions on what they think the best cpu overclocking software that works on any CPU.

For background I'm messing around seeing what speeds I can get on some old CPUs. Any input welcome. :)

The software has to be made to work with motherboard if there is any, I use the MSI control centre that came with my motherboard. As it has a version for each board MSI has released and i have the right version for my board i feel it is safe, but on the safe side just use the bios

Yep - some mobo's will ship with their own software version - which will do a mild overclock. But for higher end clocking, make sure you use the BIOS for stability. But all the software out there, will be specific to the mobo.
