Video card help

Planning an upgrade to my current build. However, as of the moment, I only have enought to purchase at most a Strix GTX 960 4GB. Will there be a significant increase in performance if all other components were 2009 parts? If not, will there be a negative effect on the video card?

Current build:

P5KPL-AM SE

Intel Core 2 Quad Q8200 @ 2.33 GHz

4 GB DD2 Memory

NVIDIA GeForce 9800GT 1 GB

Will be using it mainly for playing FFXIV

Motherboard - ROG Maximus VIII Formula
CPU - Intel Core i5 6600 @ 3.9 GHz
RAM - Corsair Vengeance LPX 16GB 2400MHz
GPU -
Storage - Samsung 850 EVO 250GB
PSU - Corsair RM750i
Case - Corsair Carbide 400C
Keyboard - Razer BlackWidow X Tournament Edition Chroma
Mouse - Razer Naga Chroma

Headset - Razer Kraken 7.1 v2 Chroma

You will see a large performance jump but the CPU that you have will hamper your GPU's performance overall, it would still be a good upgrade though.

Thanks for the inputs. Any idea as to how to determine the RAM requirements of the video card? I can't seem to find any.
