it won't hurt it but it's a little heavy so make sure it's secure.

What I'd do is buy some of those 2mm thick foam pads with double sided sticky and put them under it to reduce the vibration transmitted. Then, gaffa tape it to the chassis.

Would it hurt the HDD or the other parts by just taping it to the case. I've seen people do it with SSDs but those dont have any moving parts that could cause vibrations.

It probably wouldn't hurt anything (depending on where/how you want mount it), but it could reduce the drives lifespan and create unwanted noise.

120mm fan grills make the BEST place to bodge mount things. I mounted my drive on my fan grill and mounted the fan grill to my overkill radiator. Keeps the drive secured and cooled down.
