character movement problems

my friend is having a problem with certain games where holding w or any other key for a period of time forces his character to walk for the amount of time held, if he hold it for 10 seconds and lets go of that key it just continues to walk for 10 seconds. right now the main problem is trove. 

 

does anyone have any insight that could help? or is this textbook not enough computer performance to run said game?

For just that description it sounds like input lag. Or it could be some windows accessibility feature. If its multiplayer game, that could also be about network lag.
