What is "Classified" GPU ?

What makes it classified ?

Can any GPU be classified ?

Thanks in advance!

It's just another branding like Kingping, SSC, FTW etc. It's just basically describing the performance of the stock speed of the card. As far as i'm aware this is the order that EVGA stacks them.

KingPin

Classified

FTW+

FTW

SSC+

SSC

Only EVGA has that name for their high end GPUs.

It's like Gigabyte's G1 cards.

Or Asus' Matrix

Zotac names their high end card AMP! Extreme or something similar.

Those cards usually have better components and higher clockspeeds and better coolers.

I wouldn't really compare it to the G1, it's so much better built and is fully unlocked.

It's more on the lines of the Lightning / Matrix / HOF cards.

I was just talking about the name, not the performance.

And after all they're still very similar. Both cards are completly custom made.

I suppose, but IMO they're really not similar at all.

The classified has binned memory on top of the fact that it has a higher bin then the G1 from what I've seen, it has double the phases nearly as well. Not to mention it's TDP is completely unlocked, and you have access to VRAM voltage up to 1.8 Volts, GPU Voltage up to 1.65 volts, and PCI-E voltage too.

In terms of "GPU lineups" from each company, since the G1 is the best Gigabyte puts out, and the Classified is basically the best that EVGA puts out, I suppose they are close.  But in terms of overclocking to the absolute limit, there's just no contest.

That is true.

But I also don't have to spend $200 more for 5% more performance at higher temps ;)

Yeah I feel you, it's only really worth it if you're going for benchmark scores IMO.

I'm surprised how well the cooler on the 980 Classy works compared to the 780 TI classified cooler, full speed 100% fans 1.3v on air at 1590 on the core and 8700 on the memory and the card sticks around 52c in benchmarks.

Can't wait to get it on my custom loop, it does 1595 on water at 1.212 volts due to it running so much cooler. I'm gonna see if I can dial it in to 1650 for 24/7 on water :D

Between the 780Ti and the 980 is a massive TDP difference and didn't they go from ACX 1.0 to 2.0?

Btw.: If I would've gone for such a high end over the top GPU I would've gotten the Kingpin. Simply because single slot design when watercooled and larger e-penis. :3

The problem with the KPE is the 980 KPE had LOTSSS of issues with overclocking and extra voltage.  Vince (Kingpin) has been talking about the 980 TI KPE will have none of these issues, and will have full comprensive guides on what all the voltages do and how to get the most of the card on launch date, with full support from him & other people.

Not to mention the KPE's usually have very low asic scores for Ln2 scaling, so many times Classified WILL clock higher on air and water.
