A quick question about pre-applied thermal paste.

Go to solution Solved by TheKDub,

Nah, you can use the stuff pre-applied to the cooler.

Though using your own would probably give you slightly better temps.

its up to you.

(Be sure to clean off the old paste!)

Hello guys. Tommorow I'll buy the aftermarket CPU cooler from ARCTIC, the Freezer A11 version. And I have a question. Taking into consideration that this cpu cooler is a great bang for your buck, I am wondering if I have to remove its own thermal paste that's pre-applied to it and use my own. I have a very simple one, that some folks told me it sucks, but okay. My thermal compound that I'm thinking of using is a Coolermaster IC Value V1. So what you guys think? Both seem pretty "okay" pastes so what should I do? Stick with the pre-applied or remove it. Thanks in advance. (I won't answer fast, or mark as answered because I'll go to sleep right now. In Greece it's now 12:16 AM. Good night ^_^)

If you're not overclocking, then it literally makes no difference, or such a small difference that it's not worth the effort of cleaning off the pre-applied to use something else.

On my Corsair H100i I replaced the paste. I guess peace of mind? It's up to you. If you fell like the thermal paste you use is fine then why not.
