Hey everyone,

I'm trying to update a new install of windows 7, however it gets partially through the update process on restart. Then it hits a problem and tries to revert changes. We have left it for several hours, but nothing happens. We have reinstalled the OS three times and tried updating all at once, tried doing it half way, and tried doing just a small amount at a time.

We reinstalled windows because the current install was getting slow. No hardware has changed.

If anymore information is needed, please let me know.

Thanks for the help.

Patrick

Have the same problem.

Installs updates, then reboots. Can't apply the updates so reboots again and reverts.

However, this is on an existing Win 7 install, so I think it might be to do with the new updates?

Also, has your installation media got SP1 on it?

Hey,

I do believe it does have SP1. I installed it on another computer a few weeks earlier and it ran into a similiar problem. It got stuck at update x of 170 and was stuck there for hours. All we had to do for that one was restart it and redownload a few updates a couple times until it worked.

This one just goes straight to reverting.

Thanks,

Patrick

You can either do a system restore, and then do one update at a time until it fails again. Once it fails again, disable that update.

OR, since it's a clean install already, just re install again and it should fix it.
