PSU Wattage Question

Knaj

Will a PSU only use what it needs or will it use it's maximum amount always?

For example, I'm getting a 750W XFX PSU (80+ Bronze) because theres a great deal at Newegg for it, but my build is estimated to use a max of 333 watts. Will my PSU only power the 333 watts that it needs or will it be inefficient and power all 750W even though my PC will only be using half of that?

Btw my PSU is https://pcpartpicker.com/part/xfx-power-supply-pro750wp1750snlb9

The PSU only supplies what the PC parts need, and it would actually be somewhat efficient. If you are using 20-30% of the PSU only, then it is less efficient, which may add....like...1 dollar to your electrical bill at the end of the month.

a PSU is rated UP TO the specified wattage

it isnt using 750W all the time

You'll be using about 333W if that's what the calculator said though I'm willing to bet it's using even less than that. If the XFX has a super killer deal then go ahead but EVGAs 550W GS is usually cheaper.
