Prime 95 question?

Can i run prime95 on this computer

 

unoverclocked 2600

 

and 12 gb ram..

 

 

will it burn my computer or what?

Prime95 is used by overclockers for testing stability of their settings. Unless you think there is some issue with your hardware, there's no real reason to run it. However, yes you could run the program if you wanted to, it'll just ramp up your heat and put on unnecessary stress.

It will not burn your computer. Just keep the CPU temperature under 75C. Unless of course you have a cheaply build motherboard with next to no power circuitry

You can run Prime95 on almost any computer. I ran it on my laptop just for fun, got upto like 80c so I turned it off. Didn't do any damage.

Before you run it, load up HW Monitor to monitor your temps, Task manager to make sure its running at 100% on all core and CPU-Z so you can check the peak clock speed of your CPU whilst its running. If it gets to 75c just close down Prime95; but pressing the X in the top right just closes it to the task bar, you have to close it from the bottom right toolbar.

I cant see that why you want to use prime, because you have 2600 without OC.

But you can always start to OC! (just remember to have good cooler)
