AV Recievers-Help Needed

Go to solution Solved by TheMastr13,

I figured it out. I used optical from the Apple TV to the outdoor reciever, and then L-R RCA from my Cable Reciever to the the outdoor reciever.

It all works great! I didn't want to have it go through seperate outputs like that, but it works, so who cares :)

Hello everybody,

My dad just bought a new Denon AVR-1909. He bought is second hand, but it's in like-new condition, plus he got an AWESOME deal.

He had me set it up. I got everything connected, set up Audyssey, and it sound awesome on his 5.1 channel polk audio speaker setup.

We have a second Denon, the AVR-2808, which is older. We are using it to power the outside and the bathroom speakers, because there aren't enough outputs on the main stereo. Before, we were just using recout from the main stereo. But that created limitations, like not being able to output audio from the Apple TV, because you cant recout a digital signal.

I tried outputting from optical to the other stereo, but then you can only output what was inputed to the stereo in optical. All the sound is coming in through HDMI.

So my question is:

How do I get audio from the main reciever (AVR-1909) to the "outdoor" reciever (AVR-2808)?

Thanks to everybody who helps!

hdmi splitter

have a cable going to each receiver, or the one thats going to your tv split it to the second receiver

make sure you dont buy a HDMI switch though, you want both outputs to work at the same time

just googled it and it looks like it did...

does your apple tv have any other audio outputs?

it has an optical out, but i dont know if i can output audio from the optical and HDMI simultaneously

What i may have to do is just output audio from each individual device to the other stereo. I didnt want to have to do it, but i guess i might.

EDIT: sorry, its the AVR-2802. wrong model number
