Unfortunately i cannot get an Ethernet cable plugged into my PC so i have to opt for a WiFi adapter although the problem is i have no information about anything.

So not really sure what to do about it and that's why i'm here.  I do live in the UK if that'll be a problem.

If you have any questions just ask as i need to get this done ASAP.

Thanks

Thanks. Probably going to sound like a noob question but is there a difference between the two?

PCI is faster in 2.4Ghz, usb is faster in 5Ghz. I found this one that is faster http://www.amazon.com/TP-LINK-Archer-T9E-Wireless-Beamforming/dp/B00TQEX7AQ/ref=sr_1_3?ie=UTF8&qid=1436743677&sr=8-3&keywords=tp-link+wifi+pci ,It's overkill, you won't be needing speeds that fast for anything (unless you need to get really big files really fast)

Case: NZXT phantom CPU:I5-4460 GPU:MSI-GTX1070 Gaming X RAM:2x4Gb-DDR3-HyperX fury MOBO:Asus Z97-P HDD:Toshiba 1Tb 7200rpm PSU:Sentey650W

And the PCI is inside the case and doesn't occupy a USB port

For gaming I would probably use power line as well. Depending on the distance it might have worse bandwidth than Wireless-AC but well have better latency. If you must have wifi this is the one id suggest ASUS PCE-AC68 http://goo.gl/6xKT7e for 3x3 antenna's. There is also the ASUS PCE-AC56 http://goo.gl/0EFP2N but its a significant step down and you dont get the antenna's that can be placed for best connection. The only other option I would consider would be the Intel 7260 which is actually just a laptop card in an adapter http://goo.gl/tyaG2K Intel makes the best wireless chipsets by far so if range isnt an issue it should do for ya.

And yes I know I gave you links to a US website but you should be able to find them at your preferred retailers suing the models that I listed.

I'm pretty much 2 rooms away from my router so don't think range is an issue. Thanks for the links and help!

youll also gain bluetooth with the intel one. Being that close though I would almost try Powerline. TP-Link has some good offerings. I have two kits of these http://goo.gl/PLRNtV TP-LINK AV500's running currently. The TP-LINK AV600 is the replacement http://goo.gl/tQr6Ng the main thing to watch out for is that many poweline kits, especially the cheaper ones, only have a 10/100 port on then even though the support speeds greater than that...

As for the wifi cards you would also have to make sure that you have a decent AC router or access point to get full performance out of them.

I actually have issues with the 7260 (unstable connections and some power saving issues). The power saving issues can be resolved by running it at full power all the time, but the connection stability is an ongoing issue (though it has improved to the point that it's usable with current drivers).

Ive never had any with any of them that I have put in or used, including needing modded BIOS's for my ThinkPad. I even have one in my ASUS Maximus IV Impact Z87. Could that possibly be a router issue one your end? They may actually have replaced the 7260 now if i recall with one that's half width M.2 but I dont know if you can buy it anywhere yet not as a replacement part.

It can be a compatibility issue with the routers I use at home, but I also get the problem in other places. It is a very frequent complaint in the Intel community forums.

Mine is fitted on an HP Convertible. My friend has the same problem and he has a Sony Vaio Ultrabook.

Idk... The only issue I've had with Intel WiFi cards is trying to connect my 6300 (dual band N) to a 5GHz AC network. It'll connect and be fine then within 10min just no longer be able to do Internet access. I've never really looked into since it persisted through OS reloads and I just used 2.4ghz N since that's it's max anyways.

26 pages of complaints until Intel locked the thread in April:

https://communities.intel.com/message/290658?tstart=0#290658

There are also other threads in the same board discussing this.

Intel having sold probably millions of these things, I suppose many did not have an issue with it (we were just the unlucky ones).
