if OP doesn't plan on overclocking, i think it would make sense to get a 4790 non k cpu. i was thinking of providing him with a build with the 5820k, but it makes no sense if he doesn't want to overclock. that's why i think the 4790 would be better at the max.

what about xeon? could a xeon chip be good for him here? anything in the e5 department for workstation use? the e3 series doesn't seem to make sense because he has the money to afford an i7.

i guess cpu would be the most important here and then a gpu could be chosen based on how much money is left

If he didn't want to overclock the Xeon E3-1230 is a good choice.

The E5 xeons don't make to much sense unless your making a dual CPU +12 core monster.

i'm sure that one is just fine, but i think the Intel Xeon E3-1231 V3 or the Intel Xeon E3-1241 V3 would be slightly better. anyways, he has the money for an i7 so the 4790 should be better than all of these combos

boy was that og build unbalanced. so glad he didn't buy that stuff yet

Do you recommend overclocking? I'm new to it so what I understand is that it makes things faster but shortens the life..is that correct?

yes i recommend overclocking any cpu if you are interested in learning how to do it. review prokons guide on this forum. increased voltages may shorten the life of the cpu, but if you do things correctly, it shouldn't die on you in your time with it.

i've overclocked my 4670k to 4.6ghz on the core, 4.5ghz on the cache @ 1.30v and 1.32v respectively. no problems whatsoever.

If you don't up the voltage it won't shorten it's life at all, it's a good idea because it helps.

the cpu has no cost on it. i think that would bring it way over his budget

also, why x2 ssd's? he can save money by buying this:

Samsung MZ-75E500B/AM

less than 200 bucks for 500gb of space

also, im skeptical that 750w could power the r9 295x2 with a 5930k overclocked. he needs about 1300w in total to power that thing

im just putting it here for fun, op should not make this pc. unless u need something tiny.

im having trouble finding a very small itx case with space for 240mm. Do you think the rvz01 can fit 2x120mm rads if we put the fans on the outside?

Is that 20$ copy of windows legit or a bootleg

oem, supposedly single activation only. need to backup the activation licence, if you want to reinstall.

But i have had no problems reinstalling and reactivating the keys as long as you dont change to much of the hardware.

Op does graphic design so IPS panel is a requirement, and why have a freesync display and nvidia GPU in the first place?

Do you recommend overclocking? I'm new to it so what I understand is that it makes things faster but shortens the life..is that correct?

These days on Intel cpu overclocking is more a hobby than anything else. It will not significantly affect gaming performance but can provide improvements in other areas. Extreme overclocking will shorten component life. Mild overclocks should not significantly affect component lifetimes.

So r9 is better than gtx, evo over pro, 1 ssd instead of 2...asrock mobo is no good and I should overclock?

No. There is no "better" when it comes to gpu. But, AMD R9 gpu use more power than their Nvidia GTX counterparts. Higher power consumption means a larger psu and higher fan speeds (read louder operation).

Yes. The speed differential between Pro and Evo 850 models is not usually justified and would only be apparent in particular use cases.

Yes. RAID 0 ssd performance differs from hdd. Only under particular use cases can these arrays provide better performance.

No. Current Asrock motherboards are good quality, especially the higher-end models. My personal preference is Asus. Others prefer Gigabyte or MSI. Any of the four manufacturers make good H97 and Z97 motherboards.

If you want. Overclocking is interesting. But treat it as a hobby.

80+ ratings certify electrical efficiency. Not quality.
