I'm planning on building a gaming rig with 2 Western digital 1TB Blacks in raid 1.

Any suggestions?

Thx

As others have mentioned, I would recommend using the onboard Motherboard RAID 1 feature, rather then actually buying a RAID card. With 1TB WD Black's, you're unlikely to see a real world difference in performance.

With that in mind, is there a particular reason you want to use RAID 1 w/ HDD's for your gaming PC?

Will this be a storage only RAID setup, or will you be installing the OS too? I highly recommend installing the OS onto a completely separate SSD as your primary drive, and then use HDD's (whether RAID 1 or just a single drive) as your large storage data drive.

You can store games on the HDD if you'd like - it won't impact performance much for the majority of games, aside from loading screens. If you can afford it, however, I'd spring for a larger SSD, like a 500GB, as your primary OS drive - and then install all your favourite games to the SSD, with any remaining games being installed onto your secondary HDD.
