Laptop for College

Hi guys

I'm searching a Laptop for college and some minor minor gaming (little stupid games like southpark and co).

My requirements are:

●12.5-14" screen size with at least 1920x1080 resoultion and Touchscreen.

●CPU; doesn't matter that much. I need it for C++, Matlab. But only for little progrmamms. I think an i5 or Intel Core M would fullfill my needs. If possible 5th generation.

●GPU: Intel HD is enough.

●It has to be light. Max is 2.0kg, about 4 pounds

●Fan should be quiet. (the fan of my "old" sony vaio svt13 spins like a jet when I start youtube)

●long battery life. 6h real world use

●storage doesn't matter, as long as I can change the SSD/HDD (so Microsoft Surface isn't an option)

●same goes with RAM, if it can't be switched, then at least 8 gigs.

●Price about 1200CHF, which is about 1270$, that's the absolut max and I don't mind to spend less =P

And the last point:

It has to be Windows. Nothing against apple, their notebooks are awesome etc. but I can't stand their OS.

Dell XPS 13 looks awesome, but is too expensive, where I live. Switzerland by the way.

Thanks in advance for all the helpful answers and sorry if I made any typos ;-)

Edit:

It should have fullsize HDMI and USB 3.0

i got the Dell xps 13 for school and it's awesome. i got 8 gb ram 256 gb ssd with core i5 without touch. In the Netherlands it cost 1200 euros. So that is maybe an option but i don't know how expensive that is in your country.

The ASUS Zenbook UX303LN looks like it fits the bill pretty good http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16834231815&cm_re=ASUS_UX305-_-34-232-393-_-Product

If not the ASUS UX305 has a touchscreen model but I'm not sure if that's out yet.

What do you think about the Asus UX305FA?

I personally think it's a great laptop for the price it's essentially the new macbook but at an affordable price. It is pretty much perfect for your needs, great for students.

It was my first choice too. But maybe there's a better one I haven't seen until now.

How is it not? Even with student discounts Apple products are still really expensive here in Australia.

maybe wait for the next Projekt Neptun Wave (http://www.projektneptun.ch/en/products/hardware/laptops/)

I've looked at those too. But I don't think their prices are that good. I prefer digitec.ch :)

I personally prefer one without a seperate GPU. I'd rather have a better CPU or better battery life instead for the same money.

I know I'm complicated xD.

But thanks for the help :)

Oh well I tried. Try looking around on Xotic Pc they have a bunch of laptops that they can customise for you and they ship worldwide so you might find something you like there.

I know. But I don't want to take it with me all the time.

The Asus T300 CHI is awesome imho bit it doesn't even have a proper USB 3.0 port.

Microsoft surface 3 pro?

The thing I don't like about the pro 3, is that you can't change storange or ram. I have a 2.5" 500gb ssd laying around which I could put into my new notebook.

The difference from 128 to 256 and from 256 to 512 is about +100/+200. And I don't like this kind of thing. Also i like they keyboard to be permanently attached to the display.

because autralian Apple prices are just direct conversions from USD. there is no price premium.

Our dollar sucks right now so even if they are just direct conversions it's still a lot of money for little performance. The new macbook goes for 1800 here and you can get an ASUS UX305 for 1200. Apple is still overpriced and thus isn't the best option for most people.

and as a student you would often get 16-20% (Apple on campus , etc.) off in many countries which would bring it down to 1440-1511 AUD.

Now show me that UX305 with comparable specs that is well below that.

They both have the same Core M CPU they both have 8GB of RAM and they both have the same amount of storage, that's pretty comparable to me. Granted the Macbook has a higher resolution screen the UX305 has more ports on it and is thinner. Oh and with the Apple on campus program the price of the Macbook only drops to 1659 so it's still overpriced.
