Ethernet surge protector help

I am thinking of buying a custom pc for my YT Channel and my router and my room are like two continents away. The routers wireless signal sucks when I use my IPhone but my macs wireless is good. I want a hardwired connection no wireless on my build at all. I have seen in stores the surge protectors with Ethernet built into them and was wondering could I take this protector plug it into my wall outlet and use the Ethernet to get internet on my pc. My brother told me I cant because of how old my families house is (1990s) is this true? Do I need to upgrade my houses electric to get Ethernet out of my outlet? I have tried wireless cards on my current pc and they never connect to the router at also that's why I want a hardwired connection.

You mean powerline adaptors? Those are not surge protectors, just to warn you.

You will get decent connection - often better than wireless, but depending on the wiring it could be really good or not so good. Best bet is to try it, and return if it doesnt work as expected.
