Buy a better internet connection.

There's not any trick to getting fast internet, you just have to pay for it. If there is no faster line available for you, then you'll have to talk with your ISP about getting a new line put in.

Call your internet provider and kindly offer to pay them more money for a faster connection. They will happily oblige.

In all seriousness, a ping of 20 is pretty great and the speed is just what you are paying for.

When in doubt, re-format.

It ain't that bad though tbh, still loads 1440p videos and feels very responsive.

BT promised me Fibre in May 2013 (now Jul 2015) where's the time gone, BT?

BTW, I live in the 'burbs so this is atrocious sorta.

Didn't watch the entire video, but is he just changing the DNS server address?

Anyway, you've gotta pay for it... There's no, trick, hack, mod, ghetto tip or anything, you've just gotta pay for faster speeds with your ISP. Call them, tell them you're planning on moving ISP and just calling to see if you need to do anything with them, boom, they're offering to upgrade you.

EDIT: Ping is pretty good, what speeds do you actually pay for?

I was promised BT Fibre back in may last year by the local paper, saying that "all cabinets in and around town" had been upgraded. My cabinet being 200ish metres away from town hasn't been touched.

Sig under construction.

Yeah, BT is shit sometimes. It makes me angry because it is taxpayer-funded, they just take the piss.

It's pretty outrageous for me too because my mate who uses the same exchange as me has fibre (but a different cabinet) and I don't. Plus, they've gone and built the cabinet at the end of my road, weird. On this website, it says my exchange is done but when I type in my landline number it says it's an Enabled Area. WHY, BT?!?!!?

So it's not worth trying the things he said in the video?

Option one was DNS "optimization" or something with the help of a program that gives you the best DNS (I think he said something like this).

Option 2 is using "TCP optimization" program.

Bt is a Joke anyway, the way they route their traffic makes your ping times shoot up even downloading small files, fair enough I'm connected at full 80/20 with 12ms ping, but its been spiking a lot recently and they charge you more than they should, on the other hand sky fibre is solid all around so if sky fibre comes available please leave bt.
