I just found this, thought it was really interesting, the geeky side of me loves it, so I just decided to share it with you guys, hoping it might end up in a productive discussion.

How do you feel about x64 Linux on mobile? Would you like to see a "touch optimised distribution", or do you believe Linux should stay an OS for proper desktop / old school laptop use only?

Linux should stay a mouse and keyboard types of OS. we all know what happened when they tried to make windows touch optimized.

I love Ubuntu. I don't use it on my main rig, but on my trusty old Fujitsu convertible laptop I use it to play with terminal and fix all my other family member's PCs. Really interesting to see that it runs fine on the Surface, especially with the main interface on the Surface being touch and all.

Windows 10 happened. And is actually not bad now. Let's all just forget 8.1 like we forgot Windows Me....

windows 8.1 was atleast better than windows 8.0

In my opinion it's a good thing to use linux whenever possible. It's about time to start etching at that MS monopoly. Doesn't mean I want windows to die, it's good to have a more central platform for stuff like games, but at the same time it shouldn't be considered the only (or the best) solution.

Linux is perfect for something that doubles as a tablet and a laptop, since you can install however many GUIs you want and seamlessly switch between them at login. You can be using something close to modern UI on the go and then blast out KDE when you have a table available.

They'd have to re-release vista to make it worse ^^

I never used vista intensively I was only about 7 or 8 when it came out

It was BAD. VERY bad. So bad industries never upgraded from xp and when 7 came compatibility with industial applications was just not there because they skipped the release in the middle and were never optimized for the new software.

Halo 2 was the best piece of software for vista.

there's a reason they locked it to vista and wasn't xp compatible ^^ they where trying to sell the new os with exclusives, as you do with failing platforms (zing)

I really wish I could get halo 2 and play it on the PC do you know of any compatibility software that would allow me to do that?

I think it was compatible with windows versions AFTER vista, but the problem is that from what I know it used GFWL which as you probably know is dead, together with all games that are locked to it and have not been patched.

I hate GFWL I had over 300 hours in GTA IV and tons of guns, money and boom they shut it down. rockstar is being stubborn and not giving a shit. GFWL shutting down and not having the game devs remove it so people could play the goddamn game.

Well I believe Win8 was a neccessary mistake. Microsoft tried to "inovate" and they made alot of mistakes. They are slowly repairing them. and what we're ending up with is a functional multi-prupose OS (let alone the law restrictions). With Linux, where there's tens of distribbutions to choose from, I wouldn't mind one or two of them try to optimise their GUIs for touchscreen interface / mobile devices.
