Hello! i'm working on cooling my entertainment center that houses a few consoles in isolated shelves. they get too hot for my comfort so im adding some intake fans with passive exhaust holes, or would the other way work better?

anyway, I was wondering if anybody knows of a fan controller that could handle 3-5 fans, powered from the wall (or wall adapter) that can individually turn on each fan. I dont care if its exact control or 3-speed or whatever. the only catch is, i'd like some that automatically turn on if the temperature (detected by a separate sensor or something) gets too hot. if not, recommend me some other really nice fan controllers I can mount in an inconspicuous place.

i'm okay with some modding and stuff, any suggestions will help.

PS: im using the Fractal Design HF-12 fans for many reasons, do you think these are my best choice?

  • Black in color
  • quiet, includes voltage reducer
  • FDB for long lifespan
  • quality

As far as I'm aware, there are no fan controllers that can do temperature-dependent speed regulation for each individual fan. There are fan controllers that can control individual fans, and there are temperature-driven fan controllers, but I don't think there are any that have both of those features.

Main Rig "Melanie" (click!) -- AMD Ryzen7 1800X • Gigabyte Aorus X370-Gaming 5 • 3x G.SKILL TridentZ 3200 8GB • Gigabyte GTX 970 G1 Gaming • Corsair RM750x • Phanteks Enthoo Pro --

HTPC "Keira" -- AMD Sempron 2650 • MSI AM1I • 2x Kingston HyperX Fury DDR3 1866 8GB • ASUS ENGTX 560Ti • Corsair SF450 • Phanteks Enthoo EVOLV Shift --

okay thank you! what are some of those temperature driven ones?

I would suggest just taking off the back of the entertainment center where the consoles sit.

it actually is, its just kind of awkward how the consoles breathe. it just traps the hot air from the exhaust going right back into it with little fresh air.
