Really quick question I'm building a high end rig before I head to school and I was wondering. I'm getting a 4670k and duel 780s in SLI will the 4670k once overclocked bottleneck the 2 780s to the point you'd suggest upgrading to a 4770k or will it perform well enough and also. Will a 3570k or a 3770k do the job as well to save myself a bit of cash that could be put elsewhere into the machine like a higher capacity SSD.

My Rig "Corsair air 540, MSI Z87-G45, i5 4670k, EVGA ACX 780, Gskill sniper 2x8gb 1866 memory, Corsair CX500m modular 80+ bronze, corsiar h100i, toshiba 1.5tb HDD." / Peripherals "Acer H226HQLbid Black 21.5" (Main monitor), Acer S200HLAbd Black 20" (auxiliary), Razer blackwidow ultimate 2013, razer naga 2013, razer goliathus 444x355 speed edition, Sennheiser HD8 DJs"

You need to go a few generations, before Sandy before you start to see GPU bottlenecks

Just a question. Why 2 780's in SLI?

I hate when people go ahead and question other parts of a persons build and the reasoning for their choice. It's their choice. Maybe they want two 780's in SLI. The question was would the CPU bottleneck his choice of components not whether the GPU's are the right choice

But it's a valid question. Few people actually need 2 780's.

Save your self the money and buy a Ivy bridge, put the money that you save into maybe a better PSU, SSD, RAM, Fans, or HDD, what ever you want. You won't see a dramtic performance increase with Haswell over Ivy. And Haswell runs quite a bit hotter.

I second this. You can get some really great deals on Z77 motherboards and Processors at the moment. a 3570k will do you fine.

Dude calm down we're just asking a question. We know its their choice were just asking why he choose that configuration.

Okay thanks for the input guys. And I'm building a high end rig because I'm heading back to college and will be poor for about 3 years had money to spend on whatever I wanted opted for a computer so I decided 2 780s should last me a few years. You know i mean I had 2500 dollars to spend on whatever I'm sure you guys would get 780s if you knew you couldnt upgrade anything for 3 years : P

My Rig "Corsair air 540, MSI Z87-G45, i5 4670k, EVGA ACX 780, Gskill sniper 2x8gb 1866 memory, Corsair CX500m modular 80+ bronze, corsiar h100i, toshiba 1.5tb HDD." / Peripherals "Acer H226HQLbid Black 21.5" (Main monitor), Acer S200HLAbd Black 20" (auxiliary), Razer blackwidow ultimate 2013, razer naga 2013, razer goliathus 444x355 speed edition, Sennheiser HD8 DJs"

It would be better to just spend less and get a powerful now with a single 7970/770 for 1080p or 780 for higher res and spend the money saved later for a new, cheaper, and more powerful card.

We don't really have anything that would game 4k properly right now.

You might want to wait until we get more gpu horsepower.

People have been able to run bioshock infinite and such at 4k at max/near max settings and such. I mean like i said I kinda want to spend this money on a balling computer cause im not going to really spend it on anything else worth while. Even if i don't drop the 650$ on another 780 ill probably just waste it on junk food or movies on the weekend or something : / It's like the old saying goes if you have it flaunt it XD

Also benchmarks have come out for battlefield 4 alpha and it seems that 780 SLI scales very well i mean i know i dont need it but I want it : /

I know that feel.

4K is still relatively new though. If you save your money now and get a slightly less baller system, you could just later get a newer gpu that would support 4K for less.

In my opinion, if he has the money for it he should just go for it. His setup will be badass and future proof.
