Hi

I just got my asus 27 rog swift. And love the 144Hz and 1440p res.

But I wanna have a second monitor for just watching TV shows and easy access to my twitch chat. Its not a 'must ' that it has to be by the same brand.

1. Do my second monitor have to be 1440p monitor?

2. Is there any drawbacks with having a smaller one. Like 24 '

3. Tn panel or other ones

4. Add your suggestion please

I have a 980 reference card.

Thanks

There will be no issues running a different brand or resolution, and (as far as I'm aware) refresh rate.

Has anyone else had issues running a 144 next to a 60?

But yea I would just jump on your local Craigslist / gumtree / eBay equivalent and pick up a cheap second hand 1080p.

I picked up my second and third monitors for $30 and $40 and even managed to match the model exactly.

1. No, it doesn't. If you want, you could even go with a 480p monitor ;)

2. Some things could be weird when using a smaller of bigger monitor, but it's not that big of a problem

3. I'd say take an IPS, as you ROG SWIFT is your main(I think). IPS has better viewing angles.

4. Idk

Main gaming pc: Lian-Li Lancool II Mesh Performance - Ryzen 5 5600X - MSI GTX1080Ti Armor - AMD Wraith Spire RGB - ASUS TUF Gaming B550 Plus - Corsair Vengeance RGB PRO 2x8GB 3200MHz - 500GB M.2 (and a few other drives)

Gaming laptop: ASUS GL552VW: i7 6700HQ - GTX960M 2GB - 8GB DDR4 2166Mhz RAM - 1TB 7200RPM HDD

1 Technically no, however windows behaves a little weird on the scaling of your desktop background.

2 Again Technically no, however it feels a bit weird moving your mouse from one screen to the other, but its easy enough to get used to.

3 It depends on your wants, a TN is fine if your not going to game, use it for complex colour related tasks, and can deal with the viewing angles.
