Hello there!

(I'm not sure whether to put this here in "Cases and Power Supplies" or "Graphics Cards", so I put it here!)

I am in needed of deciding what graphics card solution will do well with a SeaSonic G-Series 550 W Power Supply!

  • A card that will do well over a long period of time
  • A card that will not deteriorate other components due to its power usage.
  • A decent card for E-Sports games etc (LoL, CSGO, DOTA) and light usage of titles such as Far Cry, Skyrim etc.

Thanks for the help guys, really appreciate it!    :)

It really depends what settings, but you might consider a 970 while it's overkill for the game requirements it's extremely good on power usage and you'll be able to use it without problem for years. or something cheap just go for a 270X :)

CPU: i5-4690K @ 4.0GHz GPU: Gigabyte Gtx 970 WindForce MOBO: Gigabyte Z97 Gaming-3 CASE: Corsair Carbide 200R PSU: Corsair RM750

In your case probably a 960/970 since you arent using it for something so heav, and you also seem concerened with power usage.

With that psu you can pretty much use any gpu other than a 295x2.

Since ur down under, i rekon just get a 960, its cheaper there than a 280/280x by quite alot.

960 ~279aud

290 ~379aud

970 ~479aud

i would personally go with the 290, but thats just me :)

Thank you very much guys!

Do you think any of the 3xx series are fine?

yes they are fine. if you can get them at a good price that is. the 290 is currently at a very good price there.

Dont go below the 380 if possible. although i love amd, i think the 960 at the prices in Australia its hard to beat.

so these are my recommendations:

960>290>380>970>390

What are your thoughts on this graphics card? ~~~>https://www.asus.com/au/Graphics_Cards/GTX960DC2OC2GD5BLACK/

In my opinion if you're going with a 960 just get a 970, better and well priced, going to last you longer

dont get a 960 it has 2gb of vram and even though games like cs:go are more cpu bound its always better to have more vram, 280x or more is the best choice especially since far cry is gpu intensive.

Gpu: MSI 4G GTX 970 | Cpu: i5 4690k @4.6Ghz 1.23v | Cpu Cooler: Cryorig r1 ultimate | Ram: 1600mhz 2x8Gb corsair vengeance | Storage: sandisk ultra ii 128gb (os) 1TB WD Green | Psu: evga supernova g1 650watt | Case: fractal define s windowed |
