Is this a great build?

So, before you guys tell at me for putting this is the general discussion, I couldn't find any sub-forum saying "Builds". So, on to my question; do you guys have any improvements I could tell to my friend about his build? He wants a pc strictly for gaming, so he asked me for some help. Until now, we did our bests to put together the best system possible. After that, he put it on tomsardware.com and got some feedback. Now, I need to check with you guys about this build. So, are there any improvements that can be made?

I wouldn't go as far as 'Great Build' but it is certainly a good decent build.

an H97 with the color scheme you want would be better. No need for a Z board with a locked CPU.

Thats a good build, although the G45 from MSI is old, you can get the Gaming 5 which I believe is almost the same price but its newer

but since you're not talking an overclockable chip I'd recommend an H97 chipset motherboard

Early 2020 Build : Intel i7 8700k // MSI Krait Z370 // Corsair LPX 8x2 16GB // Aorus 5700 XT // NZXT H500

Early 2019 Build : Ryzen 2600X // Asus Tuff X470 // G.Skill Trident Z RGB 8x2 16GB // MSI RTX 2070 // NZXT H500

Late 2017 Build : Intel i7 8700k // Asus Prime Z370-A // G.Skill Trident Z 8x2 16GB // EVGA GTX 1080 Ti  // NZXT S320 Elite

Late 2015 Build : Intel i7 6700k // Asus Maximus VI Gene Z170 //  Corsair LPX 8x2 16GB // Gigabyte GTX 970 // Corsair Air 240

Looks good. Only thing you could do is get a h97 board but if you wanna upgrade to anything like a 4790k in the future keep it

Not a big fan of MSI boards. Have a Z97M and replaced it with an ASRock. But thats just me :)

If you stick with that Z97 board I would spend the extra $20-$30 and get the 4690k or go with a cheaper H97 board and put the money you'll save towards a SSD.
