Sennheiser headphones

So I'm looking to upgrade my current pair of crap headphones to something a little better. I saw on another post that someone recommended the sennheiser 598s. I looked at them on amazon and really didn't like the cream and wood colour scheme. I then saw the slightly cheaper previous model, the 558s. In my opinion these looked at lot nicer.

 

Therefore my question is, are the 558s good enough to warrant a £100 investment? And if not, are there any other good headphones on par with the 598s (I see audio technica mentioned sometimes?). To help any recommendations here are some guidelines:

 

Looking for:

-Open backed

-Suitable length cord

-A pair suitable for home use e.g. spotify, itunes and the like

-I game a lot, don't really know if that affects it

 

Not looking for:

-Headset with mic: I already have a Blue Snowball

-Travelling headphones

I own Senheiser HD558s and they are pretty good. Although i might getting an AMP soon since they aren't as loud as i'd like with my motherboards chip.

Sennheiser HD518. The hd558 is not worth the extra money (they sound very similar). You can sometimes find the hd518 on sale for very cheap.

Ok some mixed opinions here I'll look at the HD 518 see if i can find a good deal but thanks for the help
