$1000 Build

Go to solution Solved by robert1339,

From what I'm hearing, the cooler is bad, so I should look for a new one. Right?

I want to stay with the Mini-ITX or Micro-ATX. Needs to fit into a certain space. It's foot wide and about a foot and a half tall. If you can find something that works under those constraints I'll be glad to change. And I had a bad time with the last Seagate drive I used, so I won't be using one of those.

No problem:

$983, $70 cheaper than the original.  You don't need the K-Series CPU for gaming.  But, you can add it here or you can add another 8GB stick of RAM.  IDK how you guys are cramming ITX cases with non-modular PSUs, not to mention the low quality of that EVGA 500W FSP unit.

Ya, I guess a non-K series is ok, especially because its a small build.

What do you mean I don't need the K? All it means is that it's overclockable.

The non-K series is cheaper and you dont need the extra power overclocking the K-series processor will give you anyways. The i5-4460 is good enough for gaming, that's what we mean.

The K-Series is a benefit to pushing the limits of the CPU, definitely.  But for most games, the CPU will not be a limiting factor... the GPU will.  For games like BF4 (online) where the CPU really does have a role in performance, the i5 4460 will go a great job.  Haswell architecture is fast, and you still have that boost for when the game calls for it.

Like I said, if you want the 4690K, there is room in the budget to add it.
