hi everyone,

I am currently very very confused which headphones to upgrade to. I am upgrading from the turtle Beach Z60's,  and whoud really like to know which headphones/headsets   Should upgrade to. Now, I know that heaps of people are saying that "headphones are better for gaming than 'gaming headsets'" (no flame war intended), and would really like to know what pair of cans are best for around $150 - $200. Yes, i have Googled and Youtubed (??) for countless hours, yet everyone has a different opinion on which headphones to get. Please help me out!!!!

Cheers,

Ajax

I use the and have been using the Razor Tiamat 7.1 for about 2 years now and they are extremely clear and comfortable. I am able to wear them for hours on end without any pain or discomfort.

That's a straight lie. Maybe they are the clearest that you have heard on your own, but compared to other headphones in the price range, the Razer Tiamat are not clear sounding headphones.

@OP, the reason that everyone has different opinions on what headphones to get is because everyone looks for different things in a pair of headphones. They all sound different, and everyone has different ideas of what sounds good.

I agree with the above post that the beyers would probably treat you best in that price bracket.

Your best bet is either a pair of beyerdynamic dt770/990( depends on whether you can use open or closed headphones) with a clip on mic.

I third this, I have a pair of beyer's 990's and they are great, one of the best in the price bracket, if you like bass and treble these are the headphones for you.

How is that a lie... they are really clear, if you had a bad experience with them because of a bad soundcard etc I'm sorry but don't take it out on me...

lolwut? If you want to talk sound cards, I have an Asus Xonar Essence STX. One of the better sound cards ever made (according to advertising. It suits me because I wanted an RCA out.) Anyway, the Razer Tiamat 7.1 are pretty terrible headphones. They are not clear. You can look at just about any review of them and it will tell you the same thing. (and no, Amazon reviews don't really count, I'm talking about reviews from people that actually review headphones) For ~$200 there a an absolute abundance of headphones that would actually wreck the Razer tiamat in any test. Also, can we talk about how 7.1 in a headphone doesn't actually work?

You don't need to go that high (i.e 200 bucks) just for a pair of cans. With your current equipment I bet you won't notice that much of a difference anyway.

It's not only buying expensive headphones that will make the music sound great.

I would settle now for a pair of HyperX Cloud II. You can get them for around 100 bucks and come with almost everything you need. It will be a huge step up than what you have right now.
