Alright so this problem began a few weeks ago when I downloaded a new game called Burstfire and while in game my PC shutdown without notice and it's been doing this since then every time I try to play CS;GO. (Rarely happens on other games) And this is a problem since I play this game competitively and it's really getting in the way of that. As far as I know this is not a heating problem, everything in my pc runs under 70C (GPU maxes out at 68 and everything else is under 45C). I've managed to get by the problem by putting my PC at power saver mode in the power settings but this tanks CSGO to a bad 30 FPS (original is around 350 FPS).

So this leaves it to the RAM/Motherboard/PSU, now the weird thing is that when my PC shuts down my mouse and router don't turn off while all the other components do. If I try to turn the computer back on after shutting down it doesn't start back up, I need to flick the switch on the back and wait around 5 seconds for my mouse and router to go out then flick the switch back on and wait another 5 seconds and then press the power button to get the PC to turn on. At this point I'm really hoping I don't have to replace anything because this really couldn't of been caused by downloading that game right? I ran a system scan and uninstalled the game(and deleted registry files) and I'm still getting problems, if I do need to replace parts which part will I need to replace and how did it get screwed over by one crash on a new game?

Also when this problem would happen, 90% of the time it would be on "initializing world" on csgo.

I've looked inside the PC and all the wires are fine also all my fans are running fine, my specs are:

CPU: AMD FX 8350 Black ediiton @ Default clock

GPU: R9 280X Gigabyte 3GB

Mobo: BIOSTAR A960D+ AM3+ AMD 760G Micro ATX AMD Motherboard

RAM: Crucial Ballistix Sport 8GB 240-Pin DDR3 SDRAM DDR3 1600

PSU: Thermaltake TR2 TR-600 600W ATX12V v2.3

AM Cooler: XIGMATEK Gaia SD1283 120mm Long Life Bearing CPU Cooler

Does the screen go black when you're playing games, and you can hear sound sometimes and it just loops? That happened to me and it was because of a faulty driver on my GPU. I was experiencing the same issues as you.

EDIT - After reading the CSGO part, it might be that your CPU uses too much power (I doubt it) or that the same happens with your GPU. Try updating drivers for your GPU or doing a format, and reload of the OS before buying a new PSU.

things you can try:

-update or reinstall GPU driver and software

-re-download the game if havent done so already

-maybe try to reinstall or repair DirectX

-update your bios

I had my computer just suddenly shut off while playing StarCitizen, I dissmissed it as a bug in the game causing an Issue in directX

What have you tried so far?

things you can try:

-update or reinstall GPU driver and software

-delete CS:GO and re-download

-maybe try to reinstall or repair DirectX

-update your bios

Also try verifying game cache. Does it do this on other games?

Alright i had the exact same problem here, When i tried to play Saints row 4 it would shut down but i cant turn it back on without flicking the power switch on my psu, my pc also will shut down randomly after it boots up. How i fixed it ( not sure if it would work for you), When you boot up go into your bios, make sure your boot drive is on the correct one, ( if it is already change it then change it back) and then reboot and that worked for me for some reason. Do this at your own risk Idk if there is any consequences to this

I've had a lot of problems with VRMs overheating on fx8XXX chips on motherboards without large heatsinks on them, and it looks like your motherboard might be a bit lacking in that department. I've never had it shutdown my system though, it usually causes bluescreens or just lock ups.

I also don't believe a ram issue would cause a shutdown without ECC ram, although I'm not entirely sure.

As for power, your system could be pulling too much power and causing a shutdown, if your mouse is wired though, it should turn off with the system if that's the case. (A wireless mouse will not) I'm not entirely sure why your router is shutting down though? Is it plugged into your system, or are you using a power strip for both? If so, try plugging your computer directly into the wall and see if that solves the problem. If it does you may have a faulty power strip, or you may just be pulling too much amperage for it to handle everything at once.

Nope, just straight up shuts down except for the mouse and router.

Bios is fully updated and I opt'd in for the beta version of the catylst drivers and the game worked but it went back to shutting down randomly the next time I joined a game.

Also try verifying game cache. Does it do this on other games?

Yes it's done this on the game that possibly started it, GTA V, and Tropico 5. Those other two are quite rare though.

I already have it set to default but I'll try it and see how it goes.

I have a wired Razen Abyss and the router DOESN'T shut down, the mouse and router stay on until I am forced to flick the switch on the back of the pc to get it to start from the power button on the front.

Sorry, I misunderstood. I assumed it was a mistake/typo as I didn't see how the router was relevant otherwise, I'm sorry.

Based on your response, it seems like a motherboard issue to me.

Yeah I tried that.

I recommend just ordering the same mobo you have and try it, or a better one which is probably smarter and see if that fixes it. Find one with decent heat sinks on it though. if that doesn't fix it then send the board back

Go into Device manager and then event viewer (I think) go to the error tabs if you can find something liking to the CPU, Mobo or GPU tell me, I had a problem like this which was a problem with my Northbridge not sending enough data packets because it was a defect and it came up with I think "Error 48: Northbridge Failure" Or something similar, anyway take a look and get back to me :D

It sounds like your PSU may be faulty, or you are drawing too much current for some odd reason. I would check the breaker for the room you're in and make sure that it delivers enough amperage to power everything, or get a wattage meter from Home Depot or something to measure the wattage draw. This has happened to me before, where I was gaming with my Athlon (95W TDP) and GTX 750 Ti in my old system on a 220W PSU, adn the system shut off from overload. Let me know if this helps any.

Sounds like a PSU problem.

No game or program, doesn't matter what it is can kill the computer in such as way as to mimic you flipping the power switch. Not even a virus, malware or a corrupt OS would do it.

You will at least get a BSOD / sound loop or something first.

The Keyboard still being responsive backs up my theory of it being a PSU problem.

Either you've rekted the PSU from normal use,

Or you've pulled too much from it at once and it's damaged something.

Or you've blown your motherboard power delivery, but because it still powers at all I would believe it's the PSU. A blown motherboard is blown. But a wrecked PSU can still limp along, but I advice against that.

That's just my thoughts though.

It's not a race to the bottom.
