Computer for Gaming, Graphic Design, Video Editing, and 3D Modeling.

Go to solution Solved by Dougaroo,

Final product: http://pcpartpicker.com/p/nNJydC

Although it came out to about $500 more than what I wanted to spend on this build but that's due to monitors.

If I didn't need them then this build would come out to $2000 which is exactly what I wanted to spend on this.

Thanks for all your guys' help with this build :)

I plan to do a whole heck of a lot on this computer. In idea, I really have no budget. I'm willing to save my money to get the best of the best. But that's not how reality is.

My budget for this build is at $2000. I don't want to be spending more than this on all the parts, monitors, and OS. But since I'm not in a rush to build anything my budget is bendable. I can go as high as needed to get the most that I need but I'd like to stay near the $2000 range.

As in the title: I plan on using this computer for gaming (GTA V, Black Ops III, and even minor games like CS:GO), graphic design (Photoshop and Illustrator), video editing (sony vegas pro and after effects), and 3D modeling (cinema 4D). I'm also going to use the computer for basics like school and some work things but really I don't need to focus as a 500$ laptop can do that.

I'm currently looking for a 2 and eventually 3 monitor setup for the computer. I'm going to have a side tv for my xbox one but that's not needed to add to this budget.

I'd prefer to have them on a single 3 monitor stand but wall mounting is limited and since I may not have the budget to get all three monitors, having two monitors on a three monitor stand would look stupid.

The build I've had my eye on for some time:

CPU: i7-4790k

CPU Cooler: Dark Rock Pro 3

Motherboard: Asus Sabertooth Z87 (Not sure if this is a good choice)

Memory: Corsair Vengeance Pro 16GB (2x8gb)

SSD: Samsung 850 Evo 250GB

Hard Drive: Western Digital Caviar Blue 1TB (I've had a 1TB laptop for about 3 years now and am only half way to filling it up. I'm open to upgrade this if needed)

Video Card: MSI GeForce GTX 980 Ti 6GB

Case: NZXT Noctis 450 ATX Mid Tower

PS: EVGA SuperNOVA NEX 650W 80+ Gold

OS: Windows 8.1

Monitor: Dell E2414Hr 60Hz 24" (Not sure if this is the best choice for me as I don't know much about refresh rates and what makes a good gaming monitor)

EDIT: Looking for a Black and Red themed build to match my desk setup

I'm open to any suggestions and revamps of what I've put together. Thanks for the help :)

-Doug

It looks okay, but for the price, you could go X99. And I don't like the PSU.

4x4GB really? I'm trying to have room to upgrade not just use up all my slots like a scrub

Monitor: LG 24M47VQ 60Hz 24.0" Monitor  ($139.99 @ Amazon)

I don't really like the glossy material this monitor has. Yeah it looks like it'll get the job done but I want it to go with my setup and look good

Case: Rosewill RISE ATX Full Tower Case  ($89.99 @ Amazon)

Nice case. Looks like it has room for cable management  and has enough fans so I don't have to buy any (at least for now)

Looks like it'll get the job done. I was looking for a Black and Red themed build (should have put that in the post).

why theres no sarcasam the 4790k is recommendation for your situation

I know there wasn't. It just seemed liked you freaked out over it. So all you suggest is adding that CPU and I'd be good?

If you want Red/Black case switch to H440. I love it and it comes with 4 case fans.

I like everything on this list. The monitor I'm not too happy about how the bottom is so glossy (at least from the pictures). It'll do the job and it has the Red and Black theme.

Anyone have any suggestions on what to change about this build?

Yes. Unsurprisingly, I do. Lol.

1. X99 is a better option for this price range compared to the i7 4000 series.

2. I think you might want a bigger SSD.

3. Motherboard is pretty overkill.

4. PSU is FSP made. Go with the G2 EVGA PSU or an XFX or Seasonic unit.

I can tell this is over budget. But that's fine. I'm sure it's worth the wait.

Most of that money is twords the SSD and Hard Drive. Is it worth for a 500GB SSD and a 2 TB HD? And should I get a more wattage PSU to ensure no problems?

So many cases to choose from

Like that it was near my price point. But I feel like adding more storage was worth it. Don't need to repost* (oops) it though. I'll change it manually when I start ordering (unless something else should be changed)
