My first time building a PC!

Hey everyone this is my first time on Linus Tech Tips and its also my first time building a PC!

 

So the main purpose for my PC is just to run normal games on Steam, nothing crazy like typical console games and also Minecraft, League of Legends, those types of games.

 

Take a look at my build and let me know what you guys would recommend or if I have something that is not needed and that I can find cheaper because I am on a budget! And also it would be much appreciated to know if everything would be compatible with each other! I feel i did pick out the parts that would be but just in case!

 

Sentey Cyberia ATX case - $40 ( this case has a USB 3.0 slot in the front but how would i connect the motherboard that has 2 to it? )

GIgabyte AM3+ AMD 970 GA-970A-DS3P - $55

MSI NVIDIA GeForce GT 740 - $83

AMD FX-4300 Quad Core Black Edition - $69

Kingston ValueRAM 2X2gb 1600Mhz DDR3 DIMM Non-ECC - $16 ( what does DIMM mean? and is it compatible with the motherboard I have? )

Cooler Master Elite Power 460W - $35 ( is this enough power? There are 4 fans that come with the case, one 80mm LED fan. Will it be enough for everything? )

FX-43XX is weaker than i3! :o

FX-63XX equal to i3! :)

FX-83XX better than i3! :D

 

Also if you are gaming only go for intel... (DO NOT GET PENTIUM DUAL-CORE!)

It's pretty good but I would recommend getting an i3 for those types of games

If you want to save money the Pentium G3258 can handle those games fine.

Also, I recommend getting a different power supply that has an 80+ bronze/silver/gold rating because those are more efficient. 

My Old Rig: Phenom II X4 965 4.0 ghz, Asus Motherboard, 4 GB DDR3-1333, Antec Case and PSU, no video card atm

My New Rig: i5-4590, MSI Motherboard, 8 GB DDR3-1600, Corsair Case, XFX PSU, HD 7950

Okay so I should go with the i3 processor? Which one do you recommend that has four cores but isnt super expensive? And will an intel processor still be compatible with the motherboard that I have? Do i have a decent gpu as well? and also would a micro atx be more worth it since im not going to do heavy gaming? in the future if i do decide to do higher setting pc games could i with a micro atx?
