I don't get it... There are tons of channels on Youtube that re-upload and create mixes containing copyrighted songs all the time. I like making mixes and I've gotten pretty good at it but almost every mix I've uploaded gets blocked on mobile devices and now they're getting blocked worldwide after they've been on Youtube for over two months.

I've tried filing appeals and stuff but that only works for like a day until it's blocked again. My channels gotten pretty popular lately and so many other channels release the exact same songs with no problems. Does anybody know anything about copyright laws and stuff or Youtube in general. I just want to release videos that won't get blocked.

Thanks in advance! :)

As someone who has uploaded gameplay footage onto YouTube with the original music playing in the background......

...I feel for you. I really do.

YouTube's copyright notice thing is generally a ball-ache, since it holds the video's monetisation potential hostage, made worse by the fact that it's automated (for the most part), and is sometimes not 100% accurate about the source material.

Seriously, I had a few copyright notices on my Let's Play of Silent Hill 2, and half of them weren't even attributable to Konami or Akira Yamaoka (the game's composer), which makes no sense. I even got one for a song by an Italian artist. I couldn't even find that song anywhere. It's the most arse-backwards illogical automated system I've seen.

Try fighting the claims regardless. Just be careful, however; you can get a strike if you send a second appeal and it turns out unsuccessful (somehow I haven't had strikes against me, but still).

You are trying to monetize it?

If so, they tend to bitch about it a lot quicker.

I'm not even trying to monetize it, that's the stupidest part. I literally just do it for fun and my videos get blocked.

Yeah, it happens regardless of monetisation as well. I included that there on the assumption you were, but since you aren't......yeah, it's a bit cruddy.

Google, pls. Get it together.
