SSD Help

Hello, 

 

A few days ago, I opened my laptop to look at my HDD (5400rpm), I saw that I have a free slot (yay ) and I'm going to put an SSD in it. 

The thing is my laptop is about 3-4 years old and has SATA 2 (3GB/s), bandwidth= 300mb/s

 

Which of the following SSD's would you guys recommend? Price wise , performance wise amount of writes and lifespan of the SSD

 

• Sandisk SDSSDP-128G-G25 Read 475 MB/s Write 375 MB/s  € 57.90
• Kingston SSDNow V300 SV300S37A/120G Read 450 MB/s Write 450 MB/s € 59.90
• Mushkin Chronos G2 Read 555 MB/s Write 525 MB/s € 59.90
• Sandisk Ultra Plus SDSSDHP-128G-G25 Read 530 MB/s Write 290 MB/s € 59.90
• Kingston HyperX FURY SHFS37A/120G Read 500 MB/s Write 500 MB/s € 64.90
• OCZ ARC 100 Read 475 MB/s Write 395 MB/s € 69.90
• Samsung 850 EVO Read 540 MB/s Write 520 MB/s € 74.90

 

I don't know if the speeds that are listed are the real speeds that you get every time.

 

Note: As said before the connector is SATA 2, I know I will never fully utilize the speeds of the SSD because they are sata 3.

Lowest power usage of them all and also good reliability. But the hyper X is also good. whichever you like. slightly better power consumption = sandisk ultra plus. speed = hyper x

 

just a note tho. the access times on the sandisk is lower than hyperX. but seq numbers arent as good.

I know the Evo is the better one (have one in my pc) but since I will never use the full speed of it, it's a 'waste' of money in my opinion.

Well power consumption isn't a big of a deal since I always use my laptop plugged in. 

 

I've compared the Sandisk with the Hyper X here and it seems the Sandisk is better in write and the same in read (capped at 300 MB/s). 

I'm not sure if the site I used is a good one tho

Yup thats a good real life benchmark site. I prefer the lower access times of the ultra plus even if its not as fast. really underrated ssd

the non "Ultra Plus" or "extreme" variation is really bad tho haha.

Because, its in the middle, you get great performance, for a good price. thats all to it

On a side note, the older 840 Evo with the latest firmware beat out a brand new 850 evo. very wierd. but finally Samsung addressed the speed issue
