Hi guys

My laptop fell on the floor, and the hard drive got damaged, so after windows 8 did its reparing harddrive thing, my pc did boot into desktop after win 8 repaired itself, but i was having constant crashes and blue screens. (like K-mode exeception not handled, and kernel data inpage error) and the harddrive was running at 100% all the time, even if i am not doing anything.

Last night, i tried to run CHKDSK/R to try and save my hard drive, but this morning, when i went back to it, it wont boot up anymore, and it says operating system not found. So now i know i need a new hard drive.

I have 2 questions

1. after i bought my new harddrive, can i restore it with another laptop's windows 8 backup? My dead one is acer, but i have a toshiba that is fully functional, also, is win8 product key part of the bios?

One more question is that should i just buy a cheap 500gb harddrive to replace my dead one, or should i upgrade my toshiba drive to a SSHD(i need the storage space) and move my current toshiba drive to my acer?

Thanks a lot guys!!

Test your laptop with the spare hdd.

windows 8 key is not part of the bios and if you  have the money go with an ssd instead of an sshd but if you dint wanna spend all your money then sshd is the way to go

last dont buy anything before you have comfirmed that the computer works with the other hardrive.
