Heyoo,

So I'm upgrading to an i7-4790K pretty soon and decided to swap out my cooler at the same time for a bit of extra Oc headroom.

Just wondering what cooler to get, haven't really touched AIO coolers before, but the 240M/280L look exactly what I'd be wanting. I can get either for the same price so just wondering which to go for. My case is a Define R4 which by default doesn't fit a 280mm rad, with a bit of tweaking I can have it fit easy enough though.

I would look on amazon at the 120l EK water cooling kit or a 360L EK water cooling cpu kit. The 360 one costs 270 from EK directly...minus 40 bucks if you can find a e retailer selling it in the country you live in. I believe the other kit is 200 or 180 from amazon. Custom kits are great you can always expand your loop in the future!

MainRig- CPU: 4790k, RAM: 32gb 2400mhz, MOBO: Maximus Formula VII, COOLING: Full EK cooling, GPU: Titan X SLI, PSU: 1200w evga , STORAGE: 250gb SSD, 4TB hybrid CASE: 760T, EXTRAS: Sleeved cables

SecondRig- CPU:4690K, RAM: 16gb 1600mhz, MOBO: Maximus Gene VII, COOLING: H105, GPU: 970ftw, PSU: EVG650W,  STORAGE: 250gb SSD, 3TB, CASE: 540air

Steam: pizzatime6 Plus two other pc rigs and a craptop.

I don't think OP wants to set up a custom loop to cool his CPU ;P

Go for,280L or if you have more money go for a Kraken X61

I have no idea the prices on the AIO coolers he was looking at. However if he wanted to get into water cooling these kits are reletivally cheap and come with everything needed for a custome loop. Aside from that they are really easy for beginners to install, as well as tones of rom for expansion. Other then that I have always liked corsair AIO's for my cpu's.

Yeah I plan on using a little kit to cool my CPU then move onto the GPU. But OP just wants an AIO.

For Corsair AIOs, they are nice. But I feel as if NZXT is superior in that market.

Could look at switech. I believe you can add a second tiny pump and add a gpu to the loop. Might be ther best of both words for OP.

I wouldn't mind a custom loop but it's not exactly viable at the moment, 240M/280L both go for 180NZD, Custom kits start well above that. Cheapest EK CPU block I can find is $117.

Nepton 240M because it is the best blend of low noise and performance.  Also won't have to replace the fans because the included ones are very strong.

Wouldn't the bigger rad be the better cooling solution?

Performance wise, yes it will be better by a few C. But you also have to consider that the 280L is a louder AIO, and if you want it to be more quiet, that means new fans. The 240M, while not as good a performer, is a much more quiet AIO, and fans wont need to be replaced.
