Premium Protective Vests: "PPSS"?

Hello everyone so i was currently looking for a high quality and exeptional reputation "bullet proof vest" with level III+ standardized protection. Im aware of how hard it is to aquire one single piece of body armor especially in some countries that should defend as well as police enforcement units or tactical response groups, but im aware civilians can use just as highly protective vests as they can when no crimes have ever been commited in the past and theres no special license to be aquired i think. So i just wanted to know if anyone is aware of a quality gear protection company like PPSS (Honestly theyr the only ones i found thus far to offer such a wide range and exclusive body armors, but ive also read theyr extremely overpriced altought i cant even see the value on theyr website...), that wouldnt be "insanely expensive" but would neither compromise in anything otherwise i might just have to check them out. Thanks if you can help.

Why you need dis exactly?  I feel like most of the stuff is going to be very very expensive.

No it actually isnt Aha :P but well ya know i just dont want to get shot at while some random guy runs trough the streets shooting at people and murdering +40 :(. The world is that bad in my opinion... and we can never be too prepared i guess.

PPSS is a very good company and makes an awesome product. One company I worked for I had started a deal to acquires several for our use. Unfortunately I left before we received the vests so I cant give first hand account of just how awesome they are.

Why do you want one of these anyhow? Do you work in law enforcement or security? These vest are not cheap as they run about $850-$950 US a peice, we bought bulk so we had a slight discount.

 

The video below is of the ceo takes a round at point blank (less than 10ft or 3m) go to 5:10 to see him shot.

Thanks SansVarnic but no actually im just a plain civilian and i surely didnt realize the prices where in the 1000 range o-o.

If your looking for something cheaper here is a good place to look, I warn you though many Kevlar vest made in the US may not ship outside the US to consumer buyers due to certain laws here for exports (see below)

GH is a highly respected US product by both law enforcement and security. The quality is great but you wont get the thinness you will find with ppss.

Bare in mind that a lot of vests sold are soft armor only. Which means they do not have the plates in them to stop higher velocity rounds.

 

Being in Portugal I don't know how to direct you as US export laws and Portuguese import laws would likely make any purchase a problem.

 

Also wearing body armor isn't a fool proof method to saving your life, though it does provide a higher degree of survivability.

Something else to bear in mind if your looking into this type of product. Using Plates and Trauma Pads as it is high suggested to get a trauma pad with anything you get as it is designed to reduce your injury.

Any Plate carrier, Kevlar vest or Trauma pad you invest in usually has a life span of 5 year of constant wear, These products do break down over time by design. Plates themselves may have a longer life span whether it be made of carbon steel, ceramic or composite material but it i still a good idea to buy products together and replace at the same time.

 

Depending on what country your in can depend on the access you have to these products, I am not familiar with other countries laws and the sort.
